Songs that deserve to be on better albums. I think a lot of Prince songs are wasted on largely inferior albums. Bambi on Prince, Joy in Repition on GB, Scandalous on Batman, Beautiful Strange on Rave in2 the Joy Fantastic, Rave un2 the Joy Fantastic itself, When Eye Lay My Hands on U on the Chocolate Invasion, Empty Room on C-Note, a few per each disc of Emancipation... half the songs on Crystal Ball. There's probably a load more too. Any songs that you think were leagues better than the album they were on? Hundalasiliah!

I like Future Soul Song, Walk in Sand and Sticky Like Glue on 20Ten. Laydown is also alright, though I don´t really like his "bragging" songs. That´s at least four good songs on an album that gets a lot of flack here. So it´s either a good album with some weaker songs on it or four good songs on an otherwise weak album, depending how you look at it. TThis album, on a good song per album ratio, contains more good songs than Planet Earth or some other Prince albums. And it was free.
I also liked bits and pieces of the Planet Earth album, though not really the title song. - Still love Somewhere Here On Earth, also like Lion of Judah a lot but the title of the song and the chorus ruin , in my opinion, a great song with great instrumentation with biblical imagery that does not really fit into the overall concept or lyrics of the song. (I respect his religiousity, it´s just that the Lion of Judah metaphor does very little for me in a song about a relationship. I love the rest of the song and think it´s right up there with some of his better guitar driven break-up songs.) Don´t really care about the rest of this album, can´t stand some of the songs on it, can´t stand Guitar, The One U Wanna See, All the Midnights, Resolution etc. etc. But the two songs I mentioned above are some of my favorites from the 00 years.

Also Space, Letitgo, Come and Dark from the Come album. This album doesnt get much attention and is considered a throw away but these songs would get alot more appreciation if they were on a more well recieved album. This Could Be Us But U Be Playin...

Slightly off-topic, but many of his B-sides were either criminally left of their corresponding albums or put on/wasted on the wrong albums. Examples: Erotic City and 17 Days were easily album tracks. Easily. She's Always In My Hair is easily an album track. I Love U In Me has no business associated with Batman. But back to the question: Dance 4 Me is lost on MPLSound, which itself is overshadowed by LF.

Lovesexy a weaker album. Says who? Lovesexy is as special as is ''journey in secret life of plants'', forget the critics here....listen to Eye No or the ending of Glam Slam...too good...

The 1 U Wanna C. it's a pop gem. I think Planet Earth is good but this song is one of my all time favorites.

Come on, The One and Wasted Kisses were all brilliant. If only Prince built a better album around those songs, instead of the steaming cackfest that is New Power Soul.
Man of War, Eye Love You But Don't Trust You Anymore, Strange But True, Wherever You Go Whatever You Do and Pretty Man. Some of Prince's most deep, heartfelt songs (apart from Pretty Man of course) that were far too good for the poor Clive Davis led commercial experiment of Rave. He should have incorporated those songs into a more deep and personal album.
1998-2000 was for me the worst time to be a Prince fan. Those songs I mentioned could have been put towards at least one great album, unfortunately it seemed Prince seemed a bit directionless at the time, and it affected his overall output.

I agree with this. It's not the "weak" link, but it is out of place. It's a solid hit song regardless of which album it was on.

It's true. It's so obvious he stole the instrumental from the guys who were working on it and plonked it on Parade I'm feeling a bit fammy™

Kiss is no better or worse than the rest of Parade, (it's all stellar stuff), but as to whether it's out of place... I don't know, I think it works. Hundalasiliah!

For me, at least half of the songs on each of his albums are enjoyable enough in their own right to make this topic largely irrelevant for me (well, except for maybe Xpectation and NewPower Soul, maybe).
What surprises me are some of the choices proposed in this thread:
I'd rank "Future Baby Mama", "I Rock, Therefore I Am", "I Like It There", "Space", "Letitgo", "Laydown", "Walk in Sand" and "Lemon Crush" at or near the very bottom of their respective albums. Oh well! We all have different tastes!

I remember a review of Parade where the critic actually wrote: Oddly enough, the album's weakest song,"Kiss",is the first single from the album.Or maybe it's not that odd when you consider that "Kiss" is the only song that sticks to Prince's familiar falsetto funk sound.Prince might take chances, but his record company sure doesn't.
