Love the 10,000 Wallpaper version, sounds like a studio version of the live arrangement, totally rocks

I love the alternate versions. First time I heard the song was on The Beautiful Experience TV special and I loved it. Was very disapointed with the album version.

RIP sad

The album version is ok until it gets to the sucking noises, then I have to skip it, why he couldn't have put the 10,000 wallpaper version on there I don't know, that 3 song run of Interactive, Come then Endorphinemachine is just great

I guess I´m in the minority here but I really love and prefer the album version. It´s such a mellow, laid back song and I love the way Prince sings it.

The only thing that ruins it for me are those sucking noises at the end. That´s just silly and immature.

I like the alternate versions, too, but I prefer the album version.

By the way, if you are really interested in this song, then check out the VERY long threads we´ve had here on the org about the many alternate versions out there.

There was an orger, can´t remember his name, probably a Danish guy, who did a lot of research and posted tons of info about the alternate version here. Just try the search bar.

I heart the whole Come album (well not Orgasm and a shame Lovesign isn't on the album...),

The Come title track is fantastic, nothing wrong in Prince eating some pussy.. lol

And yeah the alternate versions are great as well!

Oh man, me too. I remember getting home, putting the CD on for the first time and being really let down that it was a completely different recording. I've grown to like the album version, but TBE version will always be my favourite.

(Side note: Just occured to me that we're about 2 months away from Come being 20 years old. FUCK!)

Interactive no but Come rolls straight into Endorphinemachine on 10,000 wallpaper. Love it. Don't know the Dawn Experience. What us it?

There r loads of versions so IDK which one u've heard.

#1: first recording from January 93, unreleased, I think circulating IIRC (too lazy 2 check but I remember a very bare bone version).

#2: second recording from later in 93, used in Glam Slam Ulysses, unreleased, circulating, full band recording.

#3: edit of #2, I think the one from the 10,000 Wallpaper boot, unreleased, circulating.

#4: third recording, the long "electronic" version, from late 93 or early 94, unreleased, circulating.

#5: edit of #4, released as a promo video only as part of The Beautiful Experience film.

#6: fourth recording from April 94, album version, released on Come.

+ several uncirculating remixes from Summer 94 for a cancelled maxi. 18 & Over (released on Crystal Ball) was also derivated from Come and was among those remixes. There's a longer unreleased version of 18 & Over that's circulating and Princevault mentions a Madhouse version of it, I have no idea what this is about but it's not circulating. It's also possible that the video 4 18 & Over was a different edit IDK, Princevault says it was released as a promo video but I have no idea how and when, I think it's unreleased (or was it on NPGMC in 2004-2005 alongside the video for I Like It There?) but it's circulating.

So basically only 2 versions of Come (excluding 18 & Over) were officially released: #5 (promo video only) and #6 (album version).

There also were a few fan edits that should not be confused with anything official.

IDK why it took 11 replies to answer your original question lol

^ It could actually be interesting if we answered the OP's questions b4 turning threads into opinion threads about which version/song/album/whatever is the best. It's always like that: technical questions remain unanswered and we end-up with 3 pages-long threads about who likes and dislikes what, which is cool but totally irrelevant to the OP's purpose when creating the thread wink It happened to me many times, asking a question, never getting an answer but many opinions that really were of no use to me instead. Very frustrating if u ask me. No offense meant to anyone, I love u all, just making a point wink I think Bart would agree ^^

In other words only people who have heard the bootleg version should

reply to this thread. If you haven't heard the bootleg version nobody cares

what you think. Is that what you are saying?

Hell yeah!

We have a thread asking a question, a very CLEAR and SIMPLE question. So OK the fact that the link was removed makes it more difficult to answer but then better say what exists and what was released so eventually the OP can find his way to the version he's talking about. Instead, people don't answer the question, they virtually talk about something else. Related yeah, but something else. Why not, but ONLY after the OP's question has been answered. If only for the sake of clarity: poor OP doesn't want to go thru 12 pages of unrelated replies to maybe, if he doesn't miss it or get too lazy to read everything, find the answer to his question lost somewhere on page 12.

If I ask what brands of chocolate are available at Shop X and I get 10 pages of people talking about their favorite brand of chocolate without being able to answer my question, I'm gonna wonder what the hell is this about, who cares what chocolate people like, it's not what I asked! If u wanna discuss ur favorite chocolate create another thread about this, don't make a mess of mine!

Now if I get an answer, AFTER we know which brands of chocolate are available at Shop X then, and only THEN we can have fun and discuss our favorite brands. But not before.

The album version is freaking genius. Those horns are sick. you don't hear many Prince songs with a soprano sax solo.

Perhaps you are referring to the Glam Slam Ulysses version? I've always enjoyed that version over the album version. I think many orgers enjoy the album version, but I never really got into it.

They really are. It´s one of my favorite horn heavy Prince songs of the 90s, and I am not really a big fan of his use of horns after Eric Leeds left, but the use of horns in this song is just brilliant.

Never liked the ALBUM (released version) thought it was just too damn long, sometimes Prince needs an edit button, the horns were cool, but the "Beautiful Experience" film version was a better fit on that album, also POEM should have been left and Orgasm just dropped in place since its the same.

Why wouldn't you play it for others? It's F'ing hilarious!

Especially when you explain to them that the song has nothing to do with sex, it's about spirituality or something... Isn't that what prince claimed back in the day?

Thats what he claims ALL of his songs are about. But I dont play it in front of others because of what the song is about. Its just that the people who I hang around already dont like him and that album is not for everyone though I count it as one of his best albums.

The electronic version was released in the sense that it was featured in The Beautiful Experience TV special. I think the special got broadcasted pretty much everywhere in the world, so it must have had millions and millions of viewers. I'm sure many of us still have it on VHS.

I liked the electronic version a lot, but was blown away by the album version when it came out. The way the song builds up is just something else altogether. Originally I thought the album version must have been recorded first and the electronic one was just a remade version that he simply released to the public first, but apparently that's not the case.
