Ok, this afternoon I will return to the record store to check if they have more information, but my partner has just reminded me that it was Fopp that had a low res photo of Kate Bush's Aerial on their 'dodgy' coming soon posters a few weeks before Kate's site, weekly music publication or any online fan/music site...so here's hoping they are correct again.

This is utterly false. A Purple Rain remaster would not be released so quickly and with no buzz or attempts to market it two weeks before it comes out.

Ok guys, I returned to the store today and asked two members of staff- one in the music section and one in the general new release section...they both looked up on the system and both confirmed that 1) Prince Purple Rain 30th Anniversary Edition is on their order list from the date mentioned on the computer and 2) There is no other information- no tracklist, price, number of discs etc...I made them both turn the screen round so that I could see for myself and 3) They do not usually have all of the information for a new release until the Friday before 'new release Monday' when the stock is delievered and everything is placed into the system...I asked about others albums on the notice board and it was the same for all (see photo). Hope that has either helped or made matters worth. Earlier in the week I was, at first, really excited about sharing a maybe (and hopefully) release date, but the negativity that followed has put me off posting any Prince related news in the future- I don't actually care about being seen as the 'man with the exclusive news' or have 'insider information' that I want to hold on to until the very last minute or alpha male any fan that normally post exclusive news first, I have been a fan since 1984 and so I've been very excited about these remasters and know that many other fans have too, so my excited post the other day was in all innocence and posted to see if others knew of this date or ease the tension of those hoping for a glimmer of information (me included) on a maybe release date. Anyway, hopefully we will have a tracklist confirmation soon and maybe a concrete press release (when Warners can be arsed) and I for one will be rushing down to Fopp to purchase on new release Monday morning...whatever date that may turn out to be

whatever it is and whenever it comes out i needs to be an impressive effort in both quality and quantity of both music and printed materials.

at this point: I will need more than the released remixes (only LGC is worth it) and the 4 other songs in the movie and EI for me to be interested. *ECP if EI is what I was told it was: from: recorded live at the bennifit show with some minor overdubing and tweaks.

it needs a good: 5 extra songs (the CB and WDC alternates would be a good start)

But the orginal Presser said "Unheard songs" so any thing he preformed and anything leaked and widely bootleged would NOT be unheard.

**when Jimmy Page was putting together the new editions of the LZ albums he specifically sough out fans in the know and consulted if a give track had been bootleged or not.

But anyway I am looking forward to seeing what is on it...but I will decide then if it is worth it or not (and not even so much the money as do i really need more prince songs in my head?)

**as to EI i was walking down the hall at work singing that song out loud (with edits) and a co-worker asked what I was singing! I stammered a bit and told it what it was but not its name... she said "I though you were making it up!"

Thanks Stevenpottle, I'll also be heading to Fopp to grab a copy, hopefully we get quite a few extras. I'd love for a dvd to be included with footage either of a concert from the Purple Rain tour or performances from that era. I know footage was included on the dvd of Purple Rain but I could definitely do with more

The staff will probably remember me because when I bought my copy of the Purple Rain film, I thought they'd not got it in stock, but they got it out of the back for me and i did a little dance, haha.

Don't let those idiots bring you down, they've never contributed anything and are simply jealous that you stumbled upon a possibly groundbreaking newsitem and provided both a source (so it could be verified) and an explanation to show that even though that news might be unlikely, it could very well be true.
