wow....this HAS to be fan made. This looks too much like Assassin's Creed than Purple Rain...not to mention, the pic is from the Batman era...and the glyphs in the eyes...kind of looks demonic.

If you do a search for "Purple Rain Special Edition Soundtrack" there's a retailer who has it listed as a 2-disk set for an August 4th release date. No track listing.

They also have a 12" mix of Sex Shooter for a free download at the bottom of the Purple Rain Special Edition Soundtrack page. They must have had a different date listed because the site says "pushed back." I wonder if they thought the 16th too?

Thanks. I will steer clear from those crooks then. I have no clue how turds like that don't get shutdown. Especially the way fan sites, blogs, and videos on Youtube do.

I'm waiting for more info from our friend BIGCHICK about 30th anniversary of PR , because what i read just before has not brought something interesting for this discussion!

It's the middle of June 2014 and I don't think they are going to give what the fans want. If they did it would be hyped up by now because there is a worldwide demand for this, especially in Europe. The songs will still be edited and they will add some 12" versions that we already own. The sound quality will be suspect if they use the source tapes. We are talking 30+ year old magnetic tape and that stuff doesn't age well. might be a lot of digital enhancing

This IS indeed the same "retailer".

Interestingly, the copy of Sex Shooter on the set they sent me was the best thing about this bootleg. It sounded better than my own digital dub of my 12" (analog formats cannot be "ripped", only dubbed ), and better than every copy I've "found" online.

Still, databank is correct, don't give them any money. The set I got from them can only be classified as a bootleg. The MP3 is free though, so, no reason not to grab that...

That said, how the hell does a site making money selling a Prince bootleg get away with offering a download of an officially released track while FANS who sold NOTHING get threatened for offering unreleased live material?!?

I am sure both parties agreed to (and signed!) a well worked out contract before getting the 'remaster' news out. Especially with their past disagreements concerning earlier contracts I think both parties are extremely cautious about what to sign for, and the exact wording of all the details in the contract. I feel this new contract is gonna be waterproof and I have no fears of things going tits up.

I emailed WB back when Amazon was still selling it and recieved no response, so, I assume they don't care?!?

If they do care, they should keep an eye on cdsondemandonline. They could get them now for the download and get them to take down their page advertising their version of the soundtrack.

I believe they did update theirs after my review, but, they're not likely to send me a copy of the revision after my opinions of the last one....

Well there's a difference between pirating a record from 30 years ago by offering a expanded bootleg version of it with various quality tracks and, as it seems they plan to do, pirating a brand new remaster with bonus tracks by selling an exact copy of it. Basically while they're at it they may just as well pirate every new record by every new artist (which maybe they already do, I didn't bother checking out their website). Back then they were not a reall menace to WB or , because only a few hardcore fans and mislead idiots would buy their product, and one can assume that most of these people had already purchased the original 45mn album. Now they threaten to suck people who would buy the new release from its legit source and will buy it from them instead. That's serious business if u ask me. I hope they're well hidden deep down in North Korea because the day WB's lawyers fall on them they're in big trouble and I'm quite suprised they don't even realize this

We have a company who has put together and SOLD there own version of an extended soundtrack. EVERYTHING on their collection is easily attained through official sources or widely available on bootlegs for years.

Fans don't need this kind "pirate" bootleg. This company and this release are nothing like the fans that shared bootlegs for free for the love of the music.

That said, I'm not in the mood to creat yet another thread on their set, so, doesn't matter if we disagree, no?
