Prince lost a second child with Mayte?

I had no idea. Heartbreaking :(

Mayte married Prince in 1996, but the couple divorced two years later in 1998 with the divorce being finalized in 2000. Since then, Mayte says she is rarely in communication with Prince.

“The thing is, we don’t have children, we unfortunately lost two babies, so unless you have children there’s not reason to speak to your ex husband,” she said.

I am pretty sure she spoke about losing a second pregnancy on her Hollywood Exes show, when she was having lunch with Mani

That IS heartbreaking. Having 3 kids of my own, that is the kind of love I wished for Prince when he and Mayte were first expecting. Sad that it seems it may not have been meant to be.

I did not know that neutral Wonder if Gregory was the first or second child they lost?

It's strange to think Prince would have had an 18 year old son now. I'm sure he'd be a very different man today.

Oh My God. I did not know they lost two kids. He would def. be a different man today. I feel even worse about the whole situation. I mean its enough pain to lose one child but two kids is probably unbearable pain. My prayers go out to them.

Why is this in Prince music? lol

*

Anyhow, thought I'd chime & present a look at the bright side.

*

Prince is EXTREMELY fortunate that he has NO ties (children) with Maytag. That woman is off the charts crazy. It's NO FUN dealing with psycho spouses, exes etc. When you have children, there's no way around having to deal with that dysfunction. He's lucky he was able to dump her and go on with life. No ties. He's blessed BEYOND belief.

*

Who knows? Maybe Prince will fall in love with a classy, God fearing young woman out there (for once) that would love to have kids. That would be a blessing (if he still wants children). Unfortunately, he's always had a penchant for immature, psycho hoes & gold diggers but there's always hope he will change his tune. Now that he's older, maybe he's settled down a bit, reconsidered a few things & may turn over a new leaf. Time will tell. shrug

*

Trust me, I was married to a psycho once too. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that we never had children together (no ties). It was an ABSOLUTE BLESSING from above. There was no way in HELL that I was gonna have kids with that guy.

Your acting like Prince is a completely normal, down to earth guy. Well all know Prince is way crazier than any of the women he's dated (or married). From what we know of the guy, we can safely say he's a selfish, controlling, sociopath lol

Pretty sure Prince is a physco ex for many woman.

I didn't say Prince was normal & down to earth. However, that doesn't EXCUSE the behavior of the wild ass crazy hoes. Does it?

*

Prince OBVIOUSLY has issues or he wouldn't keep going back to psycho after psycho after psycho, would he? I mean, if you're a rational person, you learn your lesson after one psycho and try something new. In other words, you avoid repeating the same mistake over and over and over.

*

If Prince is a selfish, controlling, sociopath, then. . . as a "so called believer in God", he needs to get on his knees with heart felt repentance, take responsibility for those sins, confess them to God and get rid of them (via the cross). There's no excuse for that (as a believer). He can be set free IF HE WANTS TO GET RID OF HIS SINFUL BEHAVIOR & GET FREE! That's the key. He has to WANT TO BE FREE! You can't force someone to want FREEDOM or CHANGE. They have to want it for themselves. It's takes humility & heartfelt repentance to be set free. It's up to him.

What gave you that opinion of her? From what I've seen of her she's seems like nice, intelligent woman who shows Prince a lot of respect.

If she started spouting things about him absolving sins to the cross or whatever, I'd probably think she was a little crazy lol

By the things she does & the things she says. I knew from the first time I saw her & heard her speak there were serious issues with her. And, my spiritual discernment has proven to be true over and over again. I thank God I wasn't around for all the BS in the 90s. It would have made me gag.

*

She's nice? Right. lol

*

Intelligent? Come on now. You can't be serious about that. Have you read her love columns lately? For goodness sakes, get real. There's more but I won't bring it up cuz the love columns were enough to expose her for what she is. She's more than a sandwich short of a picnic & a TOTAL NARCISSIST. Always has been.

Heartbreaking indeed. Would make sense they'd try to have another child and also explains why things went down so quickly between them sad

I find this quite extroaordinary that this info hasn't ever leaked before. Maybe it was a miscarriage, that's the only way this could have gone unnuticed. Not that it's any of my business but since she chose to make it public...

I'm gonna say a prayer for Ricky Ricardo cuz that dude needs it. lol

*

You can tell on the first episode of Hollywood Exes, by the expression on his face, he does NOT want to move to LA to live in a house with her. It was quite obvious by his facial expression on Skype. It was hilarious! If any of you didn't see the episode, be sure to watch. When she first brings up the moving to LA deal, WATCH HIS EYES! They aren't looking into the screen (at her). They're off looking up, to his left, to his right, trying to avoid eye contact with her. He's thinking, "Oh lordy, here it comes and I don't want to deal with this. What am I gonna say? Man, I just wanna stay here in my condo in Florida." lol

*

If you know anything about body language & reading facial expressions, it spoke VOLUMES! It was hilarious.

*

That poor guy knows she's crazy. I've got hope for him. falloff If he does move to LA, it won't last. wink

*

Ultimately, we'll see if Ricky is crazy enough to live with a psycho, her kid, 16 dogs, 14 cats (lord knows how many other animals) & the psycho's crazy mother. Poor guy.

That is sad that they both truly wanted a family and experienced loss instead. Their lives today would be so different. Maybe from this this loss he spun out into the JW thing. People often turn to religion to find answers to their questions. I lost a child, in the first trimester so it's not comparable, but still I wonder what life would be like now six years later.

Enough with the "Mayte is crazy" and the nonsensical religious talk. Wanna make a thread about your opinion of Mayte? Take it to Associated. Wanna harp on about whatever fictional deity that was arbitraily handed to you based on your culture or where you were born? Take it to Politics and Religion.

This thread is about the previously unknown information that has been revealed here. It's shocking, tragic and heartbreaking, and as Prince fans, it makes us empathize with some of the struggles and pain of our favorite artist. If you don't agree with it being posted, then don't bother posting. Your complaining is nothing more than a useless whine.

From a few personal interactions I've had with her, Mayte seems wonderful, beautiful and compassionate. Her work in sheltering and finding homes for abused animals is proof enough of her loving nature. I wish her all the happiness in the world.

It's not too surprising that there was a second, and that we never heard about it. It had to be awkward making the news of the baby so public, only to lose it and feel the need to lie about it.

Moreover, lots of people get pregnant and lose the kids early on (not to diminish their pain, just saying it's common).

I always felt that the loss was probably what killed their marriage. A second loss would almost certainly have killed the joy for them.

Agree. There's just some places you just Don't Go. Celebrity or not.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
