Difficult call. It was recorded before the release of PR,but at the same time as the likes of Temptation.

Personally, I would say its more PR than ATWIAD in sound, but as it a blurred line, it might make more sense to bump it to the ATWIAD remaster.

Besides, PR was already mastered before All Day was recorded.

I just think ( like it should have been in 1985 ) just a seperate album from PR and ARWIAD that included songs like Manic Monday, the Dance Electric, Traffic Jam, All Day All Night, Our Destiny, Roadhouse Garden and a few others, maybe Possessed -Lust U Always

.

Unless there is an All Day All Night that feels like AWIAD and not PR. I don't see it meshing well on AWIAD. It's my hope that there are at least 2 songs that were considered for this album, that none of us have ever heard. My ATWIAD playlist is one of those that I can listen to ALL the TiMe

Thats exactly was I would hope for. A few gems that never made it out. When Splash was released, it was a really good surprise.

Don't do it to yourself guys. I think these kind of things are for when he's having cocktails with Jehovah. Until then I expect remasters and rereleases to be a little more modest.

Yup. We'll be lucky to get any 'previously unreleased" stuff on the album remasters. Years down the road, maybe.

Make it so, Number One...

I wouldn't change what happened in 1985 at all - ATWIAD was a total curve ball hot on the heels of PR and that was what me love the man even more (as an artist rather than an entertainer chasing the super stardom like his contemporaries Madonna and MJ).

However, I agree that in addition to a remastered ATWIAD (with b-sides, extended, alternate versions and maybe 1 or 2 outtakes) I would want a separate "Vault...Roadhouse Garden" type release that gathers up all those 84-85 tracks that more sensibly fit together in sonic terms (ie they are more of a straight PR follow up).

Until there is a separate "Parade remaster thread"... I love this, especially disc 3!!!! But it leaves me in a quandry. I REALLY want a "Dream Factory" vault release (if indeed that was an album that really existed (there is conflicting evidence even though it was mastered). Obviously if Per Nilsen was right then the final config of Dream Factory had All My Dreams on it so that could not be on the Parade deluxe as above (despite being recorded then).

All My Dreams was considered for both parade and Dream Factory, so it belongs on both. It'd be nice if the final version of DF was released as such but just imagine... The road that paved the way to SOTT is made of at least 3 different configurations of DF, Camille and Crystal Ball. That's a LOT. Now they could all be released digitally for fans to play with (no physical production costs, so why not?) but I doubt Prince would be willing to release any of them in any form, save maybe Crystal Ball, which was his final vision of what that album should be b4 WB shot him down. Dream Factory and Camille are just earlier configurations of the album that became Crystal Ball.

Hmmm I think that depends on which books you read and which sources they are quoting. According to Per Nilsen (who put together "The Vault" there was a final configuration of Dream Factory and it was considered a complete album...however, when Wendy & Lisa announced they wanted to leave The Revolution Prince continued working on the album, mixing out the Wendy & Lisa contribution and working in some of the Camille tracks to make various configurations of Crystal Ball (before having to cut it down to a double SOTT).

However, Bobby Z has been quoted as saying to his knowledge there was never an album called Dream Factory - so go figure!!!

I'm certain that for every configuration (at least the last one) Prince thought "that's the one and I'll release it as such!"... for 5 minutes (or 5 days), and the same is true about Camille. My point was just that he finally changed his mind about it by himself, not because of an external power, and that 8 of the songs that were on DM3 ended-up on SOTT (i.e. half of SOTT comes from DM3), so it's really a work in progress from the first config of DM to the released version of SOTT, u can really the evolution of an idea (DM), then the birth of a new one (Camille), then the merging of both (CB and SOTT). The concepts and content evolved dramatically (hence the changes of titles) but there's a clear evolution of something totally different from SOTT (DM1) to something that slowly grows into SOTT, step by step.

DM1: 2 songs that ended-up on SOTT (out of 11)

DM2: 4 songs that ended-up on SOTT (out of 19)

DM3: 8 songs that ended-up on SOTT (out of 19)

Camille: 3 songs that ended-up on SOTT and 1 as a b-side of SOTT (out of 18)

CB: 15 songs that ended-up on SOTT and 1 as a b-side of SOTT (out of 22)

SOTT: 16 songs.

Incidentally, the only song that was in every config of those albums was Strange Relationship.

I see what you are saying but personally I see (and have) the final version of Dream Factory as a complete album and it works...perfectly. Had Wendy & Lisa not left and the Revolution continued then THAT would have likely been the next album.

In terms of a "From the Vault" series *I* would be happy to have both Dream Factory AND Crystal Ball despite sharing a host of tracks because (mostly) the versions are somewhat different in that they feature (or don't) substantial contribution (that you can hear) from Wendy & Lisa.

I think you all are getting your hopes up. This is Prince we are talking about. He's never done ANYTHING when the fans want it.

They announced Remasters. So I would expect the same tracks on the albums they decide to remaster.

Purple Rain deluxe remaster will be the only one that will include Extended versions. Even Purple rain will not include previously unreleased material.

I just don't see it happening the way to you all expect it to.

ATWIAD is my top 3 fav Prince albums so I'm definately not 'saying' change that. Just saying it would have been cool to have a seperate PR extension album with those songs on it

And Yeah my Prince chased Superstardom too. lol

Nothing will be added as it is simply a remaster, this is not an opportunity to please hardcore fans, it is an opportunity for WB and Prince to capitalize on what already exists. That is simply how it is done.

At the most they might add some already released remixes at the end of the CD to sweeten the deal for some, but I doubt it.
