I feel like this remaster would be even more interesting than Purple Rain. So much interesting and eclectic material to choose from. And some of these wishlists are pretty extravagant! I would be happy with an official Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden, and some demos from the Family. Especially the Desire demo, where Eric goes apeshit at the end.

Nothing will be added as it is simply a remaster, this is not an opportunity to please hardcore fans, it is an opportunity for WB and Prince to capitalize on what already exists. That is simply how it is done.

At the most they might add some already released remixes at the end of the CD to sweeten the deal for some, but I doubt it.

The press release mentions unreleased material. We may get only a couple of tracks but we'll get them. Don't spread lies.

The Family is another project I'm extremely interested in

.

I would love a 2nd disc with Prince & the Revolution 'rehearsals' etc I wonder if there is a more structured Feline w/vocals (not the Parade era sound with Eric on horns, but the PR era sound with Prince killing the guitar) the Screams of Passion, Desire, Nothing Compares 2 U(the Another Lonely Christmas feel)

Remember the note he wrote 2 the actress(Jackie Swanson?) who handed him his guitar in the Raspberry Beret video??

He said they were working on a song called Palamino Pleasure Ride...

That was ATWIAD era...

I noticed you failed to respond to my reply to you? Do you really think The Family will even be remastered?

NOT RIGHT.

They belong to The Family deluxe edition, no-where-else!

Thanks for quitting treating the side-projects as if they didn't exist.

hmmm Is it not Prince singing those Family demos? I wouldn't put Apollonia's demo of "Manic Monday" on the Bangles deluxe edition, but I think it could go on a Apollonia 6 deluxe, for instance.

Good recall! Would not have remembered that. Technically (assuming he recorded it), it would have been made post ATWIAD and in the Parade "sessions".

Show me where it says anything about unreleased material showing up on the remasters. All it says is that he will release a treasure trove of unreleased material. It is simply common sense that any unreleased material would be released as a seperate project, like crystal ball, or simply online as one offs. His albums have the tracks they have on them for a reason, because that was his vision for the album, throwing unreleased songs on them from the same era or sessions would compromise that vision. The sound is being remastered, not the vision for the album.

As far as spreading lies go, thank you for the laugh, but I cannot spread lies about something that was never stated as fact. On the other hand, saying unreleased material will show up on remasters without any facts, now that is spreading lies.

Sure he will release unrelased material, but I highly doubt it will show up on remasters. Could I be wrong? Yeah. Would I be happy if the unreleased material did show up on the remasters? You bet.

I'm sorry I didn't answer.

Answering nonsense is wasted time, though (no offense).

.

The Prince version of Manic Monday has no business being on a Different Light remaster because

1/ Neither The Bangles nor Sony-BMG own that recording.

2/ Different Light isn't a Prince album.

So yeah in that specific case Manic Monday could be added to an A6 remaster.

.

In the case of The Family it's got nothing to do with that. The Family is a Prince album. The Family demos have been recorded with that project in mind. So there's absolutely no reason why those songs oughta end on an ATWIAD remaster when they belong to another album. It's just as absurd as saying the Batman outtakes oughta be rereleased on a Lovesexy remaster.

.

And no, I don't believe The Family will be remastered, I know it will be remastered (at some point, I ain't saying next year) because The Family is a Prince album.

I'm following your logic. I know songs on Batman are in the 1988 outtakes (same year as Lovesexy) and you're right, it would be weird since they don't fit the project.. just like The Family stuff would not fit ATWIAD. You've actually changed my mind on that! I didn't know where you were coming from before.

I am concerned there was not enough commercial success in 1985 to justify re-releasing The Family, even though there is a bigger awareness now. Lord, I hope I'm wrong. I love that group.

I don't know, depends, it could have been made before ATWIAD was released. I believe that note was written to the actress way before the Raspberry Beret video was written, her appearance in the video came afterward. Never know, I hope it is a song...
