I do get a little jaded at some of the same comments/concerns about how certain more explicit songs would not be included due to Prince's religious beliefs, or his decision to not use curse words anymore etc.

I know this is not without basis, and Prince stated all these intentions in 98/99/2000 or whenever BUT and I've said this before, the amount of classic unlreleased Prince songs that have curse words in are fairly small. Explicit songs, or what could be interpreted as sexually explicit even in an implied way is larger sure, but even Prince's modern output has the same suggestive lyrics on occasion to a greater or lesser degree.

As recently as 2000/2001 tracks like Wonderful Ass and Electric Intercourse were being mooted for inclusion on a proposed Crystal Ball II. Darling Nikki is one of the core tracks of the PR album and I'm pretty confident it will not be tampered with. I know Prince toys with this track in his sampler set and falls short of singing the "masturbating" line but for pete's sake it's just a word and I think he knows this. It's part of the song's narrative. He's free to change it live, but I honestly don't think any remaster will have a clumsy edit to mask it.

We'll see, but the same old "clever" comments about how this song or that song will probably be ruined cos this bit or that bit has been removed is soooo tired now.

Anyway, as stated a million times: the original songs/lyrics won't be tampered with.

Unless Prince has specifically signed a deal with Warners that says they can release remasters of most/ all his Warner era albums separately from any new album deal, and for years to come (as the remasters won't all come out at once), then knowing how he operates, we might get a 2 CD Purple Rain remaster and maybe the same for 1999 or SOTT and then it'll all fall through.

I just help the goodwill between P and Warner lasts long enough for them to at least release decent 2 CD remasters of all his albums from Dirty Mind to Lovesexy, all with at least some previously officially unreleased studio material, hopefully with some stuff even 'new' to most of us.

As it is, I'd speculate that the 3rdeyegirl album may now be a dead project as far as P is concerned (partly due to a concern about saturating the market with P product and I doubt Warners would want a 'rival' new Prince album out around the same time as 'their' new Prince album (that's if 3rdeye and a 'proper' Prince album are two separate projects anyway) and 3rdeyegirl will be relegated to piecemeal release on his websites (if we're lucky) and that we'll only get a single new Prince album this year of more mainstream 'current'-style pop material.

For me, as long as we get something like 'New Prince Warners Album' (as long as it's mostly or entirely all new, previously unheard material) and the 3rdeyegirl album in some form this year, I'll be happy.

In a way, I wish P had released his new album last year, leaving this year free for all the focus to fall on Warner remasters.

I would hope WB was well prepared for how he is though. Once upon a time they threw money at his ass to keep him from meddling with The Hits/The B-Sides... Giving him back the masters may have been part of the deal to prevent him ruining long term plans with the re-releases. Hell, if WB is smart they got all of the bonus contract at the same time as Prince's signature...

The best part - in my opinion - is that he and Warner Bros seem to have 'buried the hatchet'.

I've always thought it best not to burn old bridges - and mend old fences.

Kudos to PRINCE and WB for making this happen!!! A win-win situation for both parties...

People in this forum can't even wait for the actual product to be released. They went apeshit when it was announced and then spent entirely too much time obsessing over what will be on it, how it should be done, who should control it, etc. Now they're coming off that high. I'm happy about the deal but haven't spent time creating a fantasy track list with all the additional extras I'd love to see on it. If people are disappointed they only have themselves to blame for building up something in their mind(which by the way Prince can't read) that will more than likely not be exactly what they wanted it to be. Some orgers are like cokeheads bored by the drug before they do the first bump of the night. Relax yourselves! It's only music at the end of the day.

They went apeshit when it was announced and then spent entirely too much time obsessing over what will be on it, how it should be done, who should control it, etc. Now they're coming off that high.
