Lotusflower

I love the Lotusflower album, it's probably his best in the last ten years, however I think it would have been stronger if it had more of a unified/focused sound in the vein of most of his early albums. When I first heard it, I thought that was what it was going to be, because From the Lotus, Boom and Crimson and Clover (and of course, Return to the Lotus) all have a really unique and focused, strange, guitar heavy, sort of psychedelic rock sound. However, 4ever comes along and from there the styles go all over the place like most of his albums since SOTT. I really like the songs on there, I just wish Prince would return to more focused projects that are unique to his catalogue - which is why I'm really anticipating the eventual (hopefully) release of Plectrumelectrum.

This is a mixture of songs recording around the 2005-2006 period. However much I adore this album the thwo tracks which stand out as not really fitting are 4ever and 77 beverly park.

Yeah... I own Lotusflow3r and it is one of my favorites. Like you said it seems to have a very Hendrix psychedelic sound to it and thats what I like about it. The vibes of Crimson and Clover, Boom, Colonized Mind, and From the Lotus are great tracks. There were some tracks that did not fit such as 77 beverly park. I also wish he could just do an album that is at least mainly focused on one subject as far as music style goes.

Yes the psychedelic rock sound is what makes it such a great album, non of the recent 3EG tracks comes even close 2 the awesome sound on the Lotus tracks. Prince should have focused on a great follow up to Lotusflow3r instead of releasing 20ten. It's beyond me that the same man who wrote this great songs now comes up with garbage like pretzelbodylogic and apparently goin 2 put it on the PE.
