Questlove teaching Prince 101 at NYU The part that intrigues me the most about this article is where is says that Questlove will even let the students have access to his private stash of bootlegs and demos I wonder if he'll let them hear anything uncirculating (like The Flesh sessions)...

Sounds like he alreadly let the class hear something uncirculated, I mean, we don't have a demo of Baby do we? Some brave soul from the org should enroll and ask if they can take some of the tapes home for "further research". I mean, I would imagine Questlove would be pretty pissed once he found out your real intentions, but we'd love you forever . Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

I wish I could enroll. I've been following Prince for over 30 years, and I still learn new things about him and his work.
Hey! Why not offer the course online?

"Prince is soon to release his 25th album" Seems the journalist could use the course. Or at least should have taken the opportunity to get the teacher to mark the article! If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

There is an outtake version readily available, I think it could just be the instrumental tracks.

Prince has been a catalyst of both perceived and real social movement. If I were in a class exploring the topic I'd like to delve into the social underpinnings of Prince's influence. A question of most interest to me would be "has Prince chosen to use his craft to illuminate less openly discussed matters of social interest". Another area I'd examine would be the cause and/or effect role Prince has played in the entertainment industry.
Sounds like the class might be interesting but lacking if it only touches on the surface value of the topic.

Sure, but info from Questlove's curriculum for NYU would be an interesting read... Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Prince visiting the classroom learning about his music and career at NYU? Questlove, you keep thinking that. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

Wel, exactly that would be a small stunt. Walk in with 3EG/NPG/whoever. Do a quick high-energy show with the right combination of new versus old stuff for a promotionary effort. Release it via y00t00b, DVD, CD, etc. Hype it. And ride that wave with the new album. . Of course that is way too much for Kiran to think of. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Who else is? PR is her craft, they wrote. This is not much different. It is all about marketing anyways. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Prince 101! At NYU, no less! Now this has got to be the best news I've heard all week. Enjoyable artilce (thank you Mindbells9!), though that one wildly incorrect reference to Plectrum Electrum being his 25th album nearly made my head spin LOL. . “Picking a favorite Prince song is kind of like picking a favorite breath you ever took." Be still my heart--Questlove totally gets it. . SO pleased and proud to see our Dearly Beloved, historic and groundbreaking musical genius that he is, being taught in any school, with the subject deftly handled by a fellow musician possessing extensive knowledge of his life's work (so far !).
