Prince in LA

I haven't posted in a long, long time...

Last time I saw Prince it was at his show at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. I was second person in line to get in and Prince was pacing back and forth on the stage. I walked in and stood right up against the stage but not by him, probably because I was a little intimidated. He walked over to me, leaned over and said "Come stand over here. It's where I do all my solos." Needless to say, I knodded and moved to the other stage. He just smiled at my reaction. 2+ hours of guitar shredding later, Prince took off his guitar(candy blue vintage Gibson) and handed it to me. I was in shock. The band left the stage and people where grabbing at the guitar I was now holding so I strapped it on. I thought I was leaving with his guitar until the roadie walked over and motioned for me to give the guitar back. I said "Can I keep the strap?". He looked at me like an idiot and laughed and said "No". I ended up leaving with a mother of pearl pick with his name and logo on it and a well used drum stick. That was the greatest live music experience of my life.

This past Saturday at the Palladium was totally different. No guitar work(except the end) but just a passionate 4+ hour performance that completely blew me and everyone else in attendance away. I cannot believe this man is 55 years-old. I'm sure enough details of this show have been discussed so I won't go into details on that.

Anyway, I consider myself extremely lucky to have witnessed both of these shows. I will see Prince live every time I hav the chance.

PS. I didn't leave this show empty handed. I snuck backstage and scored the entire set list. All 4 pages. smile

that sounds like you had a blast!

now we know why he keeps young people in his band because they are the only ones who can match his energy level and sleep schedule

I was at The Troubadours 2nd set . Might of been the best gig I've seen by the man & I've seen many.
