Get loose in a groovy noose.

Hey everyone.

There is a 4 song live audience recording from 1983-1984 that's been floating around forever. The four songs are:

1. Africa Talks 2 U

2. Erotic City /Mutiny

3. Blues In G

4. Misc. Jam

It sounds like Prince, Bobby Z and Brown Mark playing as a trio. I've seen postings claiming it's from First Avenue as well as Detroit. I've never seen any date or additional info for this performance.

Does anyone out there know any specifics and details?

Thanks!

This is the show it comes from:

It is one of my all time favorite Prince shows! Brownmark's bass playing on this show is exceptionally top notch as well. He mentions Detroit throughout the last song/jam because it's a couple of weeks before the kick off of the Purple Rain tour, which started in Detroit on November 4, 1984. I have some rehearsals that despite being done at Paisley Park or The Warehouse in Minneapolis, he still calls out places like Boston or Louisville as if he's rehearsing with those specific cities in mind.

Man I wish he did more stuff like that with different formations of his band just to get different vibes of the music

.

Prince BrownMark & Bobby Z trio

.

Sheila E. performed at the adjacent First Avenue earlier that night (with Prince guesting on Too Sexy). Prince mentions Detroit during the performance, but he was probably using the gig as an opportunity for an open rehearsal (he is known to shout out different city names during rehearsals).
