Allow me: my focus here is what he considers to be humor, For him, it's funny to make jokes about the proximity between men ergo homosexuality. Prince is a 5'2, Effeminate Sex Symbol who has no shortage of female fans. All of the women he is seen with are strikingly beautiful as well, so when he is out with a woman heads turn. Men are irrationally competitive and aggressive and i'm sure plenty of the women who are fans have heard a ton of caveman shit coming from boyfriends who dont understand why they love him. What i'm trying to say is Prince has probably had 30 plus years of intentional bumps from cats who were intentionally trying to punk him through body language.

I'm a short man of 47, and trust me doing well in sports or with women can put you into a ton of intentional bumping situations. I know what it's like, and when the bigger man says "uh sorry lil bruh i didnt see you" i always say "that's OK, because she does". Prince is no different than any other celebrity and he's been famously distant for 40 years and it works for him. Those who want him to symbolize what they feel is important politically are shit out of luck, he's Prince man. If he wanted to pander to any particular group he would have done so years ago, he's famously non commital. I truly believe in this day and age the PC Police dont want him to exist autonomously so they look for chinks in his image to see if he can be strung up for homophobia. Sad really, because it proves that no matter who is in power the tendency for despotism is on both sides.

This made me laugh so hard. My man is a not-terribly-tall black man from Long Beach (the scary part of Long Beach) and I have actually heard him say the above, followed by, "I ain't from here" in a tone that left no doubt that he was raised in a much different world and would eff somebody up.

No, I don't agree.

The majority here is sticking up for Prince in this thread. So, I see why Prince is guarded, but also can see there is a wide array of fans.

I know fans who don't like his latest work. But they don't get aggressive about that at all. And I don't think Prince feels offended that not all fans like all his work.

The OP got pretty rational and sophisticated replies of fans who don't agree with him. I can see why Prince apreciates the wide variety of backgrounds of his fans. They are not all middle of the road people, it's a bunch that discusses and sometimes fights with eachother.

I prefer that above any mindless bunch of followers of mainstream produced and marketed products like Rihanna or Kate Perry.
