Prince the Zen master! (Wise words from a purple man) Littered throughout his songs, Prince often throws in some pretty deep thoughts. If you were approached by someone writing a book on philosophical quotes and proverbs and asked by them to provide examples of one liners from Prince's career, what would U include?
Some examples... It's hard 2 see the green when there's so much blue (GB) If U could sell Ur worries, would anyone buy 'em? (In2 The Light) All that glitters ain't gold (Gold) Add some "Princepired" quotes [This message was edited Fri Mar 7 13:56:13 PST 2003 by JimmyNothing] Put yourself on the worldwide org map! www.frappr.com/princeorg

Holding someone is truly believing there's joy in repetition. Please don't ask me what it means, I like how it sounds though.

All that glitters ain't gold (Gold) "All that glitters aint' gold", ain't nuthin but a old cliche!Don't give him too much credit. to be honest with you, I think most of Prince's attempts to thoughtful or metaphorical,or cryptic, once you try to decode their "meaning", they're rather rubbish.I remember an article where a Prince bandmember anonomously said that the way Prince speaks, "Is rather annoying, actually." Dig this: "Do you dream straight up/or do you dream in w's?" SOMEBODY explain what the duck this is suppose to mean? The only thing I can think of is "do you get a lot of erections during the night, or do you just experience one long erection? Would that constitute a "Gold Experience"? What is a "Gold Experience", anyways? Is it different than a "Mauve experience", or a "Burnt Sienna Experience?" I think I experienced a "Plaid Experience"once, when I dreamed "straight up"! Decode that. ...Prince is NOT zen. "Prince-speak" is it's own world, baby!

Oooo (like Dee in "What's Happening) I know what it means. It means that having someone in your arms, the love of your life, your soulmate, is joy in repetition...it's joy all around, continually and perpetually... Just some thoughts...Tina (~!~)

During your sleep cycle brainwaves are sent out from your brain and can be traced using a polysomnogram. A polysomnogram is a test of sleep cycles and stages through the use of continuous recordings of brain waves (EEG), electrical activity of muscles, eye movement (electrooculogram), respiratory rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation, and heart rhythm and direct observation of the person during sleep. There are 2 states of sleep: non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. REM sleep is associated with dreaming and generalized muscleparalysis sparing the eye muscles and diaphragm. NREM sleep has 4 stages distinguishable by EEG waves. REM sleep alternates with NREM sleep approximately every 90 minutes. A person with normal sleep usually has 4 to 5 cycles of REM and NREM sleep during a night. The results of the polysomnogram often look like the results of a seismograph with consistant straight lines representing undisturbed sleep and fluctuations in the lines representing disturbed sleep. Presumably, when a person is feeling a crisis of conscience, the results of a polysomnogram would reflect a disturbance that would fluctate up and down like a 'w' instead of 'straight up' like a flat line result would. What is a "Gold Experience", anyways? Is it different than a "Mauve experience", or a "Burnt Sienna Experience?" I think I experienced a "Plaid Experience"once, when I dreamed "straight up"! "If you can't describe it, it ain't funky."
That's very much like Lao Tse: The Tao which can be described is not the real Tao. By the way (warning: pedantic Zen student coming) a Zen master wouldn't typically say something true and profound. The great Japanese masters would sooner have shouted at you, hit you or tell you to clean the dishes.

Don't cry unless you're happy, don't smile unless you're blue. Let strip your dress down like I was stripping a Peter Pauls almond joy let me show you baby I'm talented boy. A tisk it a task it no lunch in her basket. A world of never ending happiness.
