In honor of this blessed Good Friday, I listened to... The "piano version" of Something In the Water This is Prince being poignantly emotional and cerebral at the same time, for me this track epitomizes the then dawning computer age with its robotic rythmns and sounds, but the piano part in this outtake adds something timeless.
Witness 4 The Prosecution This is Prince at his most musically elated, I love all recordings of this song for their head first euphoric gusto.
All My Dreams A song that can only be described as a sonic odyssey, all the work that went into giving each part its texture and quirks is so fully realized you just have to bow to all the musicians and engineers that created that it.
Lisa Now I know this song has very repetitive vocals but today it sounds like the musical template to a dozen other Prince and associated artist songs -- plus I just like the idea that it's about Lisa Coleman's birthday.
