Prince slipping on lyrics? It is Sananda who cannot comunicate his thoughts properly. His last effort (Wildcard) is hopeless. The only thing he's really good at is singing. Peace We Can Funk

Both write great lyrics, both have wonderful voices. Aside from TTD's voice being more powerful, there is no contest. Prince wins errrytime (& I love the shit outta TTD)... I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

Maybe it is just me but his lyrics do not touch my emotions; they might seem elaborate but I find them too much self-indulgent and incomprehensible. They don't grab me by heart. Prince on the other hand writes complex and also quite self-centered stuff but it is accesible, understandable, and simple, which is a good thing to me. Lets get serious. Prince has no equal. He plays like Jimi, Funks like James, writes like Lennon and Sly and sings like no other. Prince has no equal.
In Germany, you got your Bach, your Beethovan. Here in America you got James Brown, Sly Stone, Jimi Hendrix and PRINCE!!!

Sure he isn't easy to understand all the time (especially for someone like me who's not perfect in English), but he touches me a lot more with his words than Prince does. The last thing I remember TTD doing is Sign Your Name, honestly. I liked that much better than Wishing Well. He's just not someone that caught my attention musically. Other than those two songs I don't know anything about him. I've read that some people really like him.

TTD would be a perfect musical act for a Prince celebration. He would definitely make Prince feel like he as to work it to get the audience back.
TTD can sound good without any music behind him, and that's a great talent.

No offense but TTD is pretentious as a mutherfucker... he wants to write enigmatically like Prince does. He needs to stop that "Climb in my fur."

He's not proved himself to be anything close to a musical genius, so there is very little comparison. And I don't give a shit if his name is now Santa, where the fuck is Terence's funk?

TTD's new album was released free on the net... Prince should have done that. The new album was excellent, TTD is a very cool musician, and I'm pretty sure he got over that 'holier than thou' shit in the 80s. Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire

Blackboab, I agree, it´s no contest! Next thursday I´m going to see TTD live at 'Nighttown' in Rotterdam. After the show I will give a breef report how TTD performed. ...but TTD can never beat the performance of Prince & The NPG I witnessed at 'Nighttown' last november! I kinda agree, even though he reaches beauty many times. I like Terence's sense of humour, though ... hence I miss some more down to earth lyrics. He's just a bit *TOO* spiritual at times, and that's cool with Prince ... but, you know, sometimes you miss someone telling you about everyday life and stuff.

I'm a major TTD fan. For the hell of it I picked up Symphony or Damn in 93 cuz it got some good reviews, and I have been floored ever since. His voice is like the ghost of Sam Cooke and his lyrics are profound and beautiful.
Comparison wise I would have to say TTD wins hands down on lyrics. As far as voice goes, Prince doesn't really have that great of a voice but he does do alot of different things with it. As powerful as TTDs voice is, it often sounds the same on all his tracks. There is some great instrumentation on TTDs albums, but I don't know how much of it is him playing, as the liner notes list many musicians, and I have never seen him live. My guess is Prince is still better at playing instruments. I would take TTDs last 3 albums over all of Prince's output in the last 10 years. Releasing more music doesnt necessarily mean its better music.

I personally think that TTD or Sananda (whoever he's calling himself these days) has a unique voice of his own that no one has come close to sounding like...the same for Prince. The only thing that seems to be holding back TTD is that his lyrics don't make no damn sense. I mean, Prince may get out there sometimes, but at least you know what he's talking about. TTD probably has a fascination for writing like John Lennon and Paul McCartney (like he's on some type of psychodelic drug), but that worked for them back then in the 60's. That shit is played out now and people want to know what the hell you're singing about.

I've just recently re-discovered TTD...
Hardline... is classic! And there are some GREAT songs on Symphony "Let Her Down Easy" hits hard for such a slow tune.. I love the pure rock of "She Kissed Me" He's no Prince, but, there is only one... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

A LOT of people said this when WildCard was first released on the web. What I'd like to know is WHY? Why should Prince have released his album for free over the web?? What difference does it make if you ultimately purchase the album anyway? Or did most people simply download WildCard & never bother to support the artist?? I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

All this TTD talk made me play the Introducing the Hardline...CD
I haven't heard TTD lately, but he was awesome in 1987, judging by the Hardline album. His voice is maximum R&B. Sometimes I do wonder why there are so many similarities between TTD and Prince. Prince "changed" his name and so did TTD. Prince had record label battles and so did TTD. Prince began to release albums with a spiritual message and so did TTD. Prince started to use the Internet to release his music and so did TTD.

There are so many similarities b/c they are meant to play in the same house. That house is called Paisley Park. TTD should be @ the Celebration this year. THERE SHOULD BE A CELEBRATION THIS YEAR!!! I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it
