Strange to see 'Dead on It' on this list. I think it's a brilliant performance and one of Prince's finest, funkiest arrangements.

Someone should tell Prince that 3rdeyegirl is now as looking at the setlists its all old stuff and hardly ANY 3rdeyegirl material. I think he is confused or either the new stuff is SO BAD that they would rather play old stuff than their own material. Either way you should probably let him now that 3rd eye is now cause I dont think he knows yet

Really? Lol.. there's never any concensus with his tracks because what one person hates another person loves... which is why its good that Prince doesn't listen to people on the org and just releases what he likes. There'll always be someone to like even the worse of his tracks. I love all of the 3rdEyeGirl tracks for instance, but a lot of orgers hate em. I always skipped Dead on it when I listened to the black album.

Change it one more time..

I don't think many of us genuinely want Prince to concentrate on his past releases at the complete expense of new ventures, and of course we already have the original releases on vinyl, CD, DVD, and even Blu-Ray in the case of the Purple Rain movie.

I'm also enjoying the current 3rdeyegirl line-up and reinvigorated rock Prince too. No doubt this is NOW.

Sometimes it's just nice to revisit THEN ...with some extras wink lol
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

The THEN AND NOW argument can be applied to any artist, or even a chess player who unfortunately has a scientific numerical value attached to his current form and can't hide behind blaming changing taste.

BUT... what makes Prince unique, possibly amongst ANY ARTIST EVER, is that he is being rubbish now, when he is still sitting on a vault which most level headed fans would agree could produce a minimum of 10 classic albums tomorrow of previously unreleased material.

Personally, I find it sad to see him release a load of old socks when we know he badly wants to be as good as he once was (that's why he dusted off his mid 80s drum machine, etc).

When Plectrum Electrum is finally released and (I'm basing this on the crap we got last year) kicks off as it continues with some derivative tuneless dirge, just remind yourself that there was nothing stopping him from opening it with All My Dreams.

McD I'm going to play devil's advocate here. What if that hypothetical album opener was a reworked version of All My Dreams? Do you think the fans that think the same way as you allude to in your post would be happy with that?

Exhibit A: Extraloveable/Extraloveable Reloaded.

Exhibit B: No Light In A Large Room

Both pretty much beloved "unreleased" songs that some think is sacrilegious to alter, tweak, polish up, rearrange slightly, revise lyrics etc. Even when the revamping is done by the writer, composer, arranger, producer, performer ..."owner" of those tracks.

Prince will not sway some either way.

Exhibit A and B prove that he shouldn't have touched them. Even the 'light' remixing back in 1997 killed the vocals on Crucial (Crystal Ball) and ruined the track.

These tracks were FINISHED at the time. He should leave them alone, and has done in the past. Rave was over 10 years old when it appeared, I'm pretty sure unmolested, although someone may put me right on that. Also not sure how much retouching was done to Future Soul Song (2010) which I'd heard was over a decade old and frankly, sadly, I knew that Prince was simply no longer capable of such a track by then so it had to be an oldie.

Yes didn't Prince say that hes in London 2 promote and celebrate the new album? Then he should definately play more new material from the album live. A good idea would be that half of the setlist could contain old songs and the other half new stuff.

Yes, they are now, but I really need someone to explain 3EG to me. What are they? Who are they? have they earnt the right to be announced at the Brits like "3rdeyegirl AND Prince". Strolling up with their instruments [as if there are no other musicians in the house] I've been to the Kokos gig. What is Prince trying so hard to push them? He doesn't exactly need them. I've watched numerous clips of them live. But I have absolutely no idea what Prince has seen in them, nor why he gives Donna so much time on guitar, so damned average. OK, the drummer is very easy on the eye (but she is shedding weight judging from seeing her on the brits yesterday [EAT girl! you gotta keep your strength up!] . Bass player...well OK but hardly Rhonda is she? Would they have ANY future after the Prince honeymoon is over? Is it because they are cheap? Is it because they are JWs (I don't know if they are) Not trying to be harsh, I like to see new band members but on this occasion, please someone educate me or agree with me...I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here!!
