You know, I think this is kind of cool. He never did this before right? Unless you count "The Muppets" thing. I know people are gonna get negative about this but it is different promotion and airing after the Super Bowl? Huge ratings!

The one and only PRINCE will be making a rare TV appearance on the Fox hit sitcom "New Girl" that will air on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Super Bowl airs on Fox Feb. 2nd, 2014.

The cast of "New Girl" will be graced by music royalty as Prince will appear on the show playing himself. The premise for the show is to be centered around his notorious star-studded house parties where he performs so you might be seeing even more stars on this show. Will his new band 3RDEYEGIRL be with him?

For the past week, Hollywood Insiders have been buzzing about this news although confidentiality agreements were in place. Even Hannah Simone who plays CeCe on the show had to hint about the "Big Deal Alert" last night and Prince retweeted it this morning via @3RDEYEGIRL.

A source, speaking on anonymity told DrFunkenberry.com exclusively "Prince actually reached out to the show. He is a big fan and wanted to do it. We were blown away and agreed immediately."

Prince is no stranger to the acting medium, starring in the hit movie "Purple Rain" in which he won an Oscar for.

This is the music legend's First Sitcom Network Television Debut.

Though i'd love to see him act, have a roll. I bet this part will be minimal.
I imagine they are trying to sneak in to see prince, but he mysteriously vanishes every time

I watch this show (only sitcom I've watched in 10-15 years). But this is weird! Prince on New Girl is like Prince appearing on Friends... or the Cosby Chow back in the day.

No it wasn't the only one! 2004 was HUGE 4 him also . It marked the 20th anniversary of "Purple Rain". Now he is hitting the 30th anniversary. It will b MEGA!!

Eye was going 2 mention 2007! Since besides his MEGA Superbowl per4mance! It also was the year he finished off his Vegas residency & set a new record @ The O2 Arena 4 selling out 21Nites! But to me 2004 the stars all collided 4 him in FULL FORCE! U right the D&P era was big 4 him also!!!

On Mj Eye don't like to speak on him. Since he isn't here anymore 2 defend himself. But he did try 2 break Prince record @ the O2 Arena! Which sadly he couldn't carry out....

Dude made over $80 million in 2004, and got to keep most of it. I don't know about your financial situation but for me, banking more than $40 million would qualify as a huge year.

Anyway, I agree that this seems to be the kickoff for something big in the USA in 2014. I've already got my Prince Concert Fund set up!

it would have been better if he appeared in Friends to be honest..that show was classic..

the article said that they will re create one of his famous parties at Paisley and he will play himself hinting that he could take some friends with him..sure he will take his band..so yeah maybe a party scene I think..

Are the Doc and Prince on the outs?

The story originated from his site but the 3rdEyeGirl Twitter tweeted the Consequence Of Sound link instead although Consequence credits the Doc.

This has been happening for months. For someone like Funkenberry that has been so loyal to him, it really seems like a dick move.

It is obvious that doc found out this story on his own because there are no Prince-isms this time in the article aside from the 3RDEYEnewGirl line.

Just something I noticed and kinda seems uncool.

Never did I think we'd get to see P acting again. Is this show really popular? Im English and I've never even heard of it. Interesting to hear Prince likes it so much that HE requested to appear on it
