So...let me see if I got this straight. He was once too big to appear on Soul Train, Video Soul, or Cosby, but now he somehow finds it appropriate to be on this very mediocre sit-com, which also airs on a channel that is responsible for some of the most racist news presentations of all time. Interesting. Well, I have enjoyed the "music" of 2013, and if this appearance on this very mediocre sit-com, which airs on a channel that is the symbol of America racism, means that an album is coming, then I just have to decide which event is more important: the possible promotion of a new album vs. watching him lower himself to do garbage tv. I'd prefer if he simply brokered another deal to include the cd in a garbage newspaper/magzine. Although I paid for it, I didn't have to read the garbage newspaper/magazine. Who knows how many minutes of mediocrity I'd have to view before Prince appears. Oh, well, at least I still enjoy the music.

And before someone adds the Prince did appear on Soul Train, it was after the 80s when there was not nearly as much "popular culture" shine on his stardom.

22 minutes is tight. I hope Prince gets at least half of that. Unless a "Super Bowl Episode" is longer, and he gets half of that. lol
What?

First, people should be going "is P going out protege collecting and he's got sights set on Zooey"?

Second, it's probably going to be P and 3EG doing new music, you'd have to ask the band if they're doing a table read.

The timing sounds like it'll be tied into new album promotion, and the way the Vikings season turned out, doubt he'll be watching much TV that day.

Let's not forget "The Artist" was on the Muppets.

The question is going to be why Zooey's character went to one of P's theme parties.

I watch this show (only sitcom I've watched in 10-15 years). But this is weird! Prince on New Girl is like Prince appearing on Friends... or the Cosby Chow back in the day.

it would have been better if he appeared in Friends to be honest..that show was crap..

My goal is not to be flippant with your question, but I don't know how anyone could watch Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee, Sean Hannity, and Greta Van Susteren and not understand their racism. And to be clear, not all conservatives are racist, but the underline theme of the work of the folks I mentioned is that America is going to hell because of black people. Even with Juan Williams providing a pseudo-counter to O'Reilly, the racism at Fox often flows in tidal waves or more like an odorless and tasteless gas that kills before one knows what happens. Yet, I'll probably still tune-in to this mediocre sit-com to see Prince...at least I think I will.

Sounds like it sold well to me...

Preach! A history lesson.....Then they can have several seats in The Staple Center.....

Um, i was being flippant... Prince had a big year with DM..He became the critics darling...of course the 1999 era speaks for itslef including the seminal Prince Hot rock RS cover with Vanity..The poster stated a big year equals slaes and awards...So, once again, was 1984 his only big year

Clearly, based on my response, I wasn't interested in listing incidents of racism by Fox News because I find it incomprehensible that anyone could watch the people that I listed and not view racism. Therefore, if one has ever watched any of those people and cannot see how they are racist I think it would be pointless to continue the conversation. As such, I ended the conversation.

*

Secondly, I can't believe how myopic your final point is that Fox Entertainment is not the same as Fox News since Fox News is owned by Fox Entertainment Group, making them one and the same. I don't know how your principles work, and I don't expect your principles to work like mine, but I try not to engage or associate with anyone who is associated with people I deem to be invested in limiting my Civil Rights or engaged in harming others. So while I am a lover of sports, I do not watch any sports that air on Fox. That's my choice because, corporately speaking, Fox Entertainment is the same as Fox News, and my principles cause me to limit my patronage of the conglomerate. For another example of principles, while I think that Johnny Depp is the second best character actor at the moment (the first being Don Cheadle), I do not patronize Pirates of the Caribbean because of the manner in which it romanticizes piracy, especially given the fact that piracy still exists. Additionally, my children were not allowed to watch Scarface or any of the Godfather films not just because of the glorification of violence but also because the mob would not allow drugs to be sold in their neighborhoods but would target African American communities. So I didn't want my children learning to enjoy or glorify people who view them as sub-human. Again, I don't care if others do the same, but my principles are mine. As such, since Fox Entertainment and Fox News are of the same corporate conglomerate, making them one and the same, I try to watch as less as possible related to Fox, emphasis on the word "try".

Not to hijack this thread into a political discussion, but:

I only asked because I have noticed on MSNBC (FOX's competition) many talking heads calling anyone who does not like Obama racist regardless of their reasons for for not liking him. I also see this sentiment all over the internet. It's as if no one can have any other reason to dislike him except race. It couldn't be his policies, his war mongering or his lies, it has to be racism.

This makes me wonder if this is the reason you call FOX racist.

I wasn't being flippant either. You may have some actual examples of true racism that I was not aware of, or you may be taking this mainstream view that they are racist because they are anti-Obama. This is why I asked, for clarification.

wink

ON this rare occasion (and 1275topp knows just how rare) I am gonna agree with 1275topp. Fox is racist and so is most of tv. I applaud your discipline with your children, as what we spend our measly dollars on or what we tune into and support is truly the only form of democracy we have in this country. We don't have to tune in or buy into things that damage our culture or our children. We are not slaves to the programming and you can rest assured we are programmed with the news. It is not investigative or unbiased or even real most of the time. Mostly just propaganda to spread fear, racism, dischord, and desensitize the citizens to being slaves at constant war and constantly oppressed. The Zombie apocalypse is here. Turn off your tvs and stupid gadgets and wake up! The world is ours if we want it.

Exclusive! PRINCE To Appear On “New Girl” Super Bowl Episode!

New Girl Prince Image By LV

The one and only PRINCE will be making a rare TV appearance on the Fox hit sitcom "New Girl" that will air on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Super Bowl airs on Fox Feb. 2nd, 2014.

The cast of "New Girl" will be graced by music royalty as Prince will appear on the show playing himself. The premise for the show is to be centered around his notorious star-studded house parties where he performs so you might be seeing even more stars on this show. Will his new band 3RDEYEGIRL be with him?

For the past week, Hollywood Insiders have been buzzing about this news although confidentiality agreements were in place. Even Hannah Simone who plays CeCe on the show had to hint about the "Big Deal Alert" last night and Prince retweeted it this morning via @3RDEYEGIRL.

A source, speaking on anonymity told DrFunkenberry.com exclusively "Prince actually reached out to the show. He is a big fan and wanted to do it. We were blown away and agreed immediately."

Prince is no stranger to the acting medium, starring in the hit movie "Purple Rain" in which he won an Oscar for.

This is the music legend's First Sitcom Network Television Debut.

Stay tuned here for more info on this exclusive story!-DocFB

Diagnosis: 3RDEYEnewGIRL

oops my bad .. i am sorry .. i thought HUGE year meant he put out some good music that people actually like and gave him approprate credit for via sales or awards .. i didn't realize HUGE year meant he played yet another hits tour that sold well while infusing half the set with cover songs and F grade guest singers and put out a horrible record that even the most fanatical fan will delete as soon as puberty kicks in ..

pr's 1984 was his only HUGE year .. even the high quality of SOTT couldn't come close to matching 1984 .. a hits medley at the superbowl (while a decent performance) does not constitute a HUGE year for prince .. neither do 20 years of certifiably garbage records .. diamonds and pearls year was big .. probably the closest to HUGE he has gotten since .. but lets be real .. it had more to do with assless pants and some cowriting by Rosie Gaines than anything of quality by prince himself

so was 2013 a huge year because of the afro? i mean do you people have ANY standards at all? RS throws prince a bone with BCW mention at the bottom of a credibility lacking list .. and now thats HUGE year?

are we just talking finances? is that all prince is worth these days? money? is that how we judge his success? not in terms of valued music but how much money he made? Just because prince finds ways to cheat the charts does not mean the music is good or that anyone gives a flying fuck about him. Prince is has a lot of successful hits tours based on nostalgia .. good for him .. nothing special about that at this point .. nothing huge .. nothing even worth noting to be honest

when prince puts out a good record everyone will know it and he will in fact have a HUGE year .. otherwise .. wipe that shit off your nose

Ah. Well, you are a musician. How many huge years have you had?

I always wondered if it was like that everywhere. I think the problem is people (on forums) cant get over 80's nostalgia.

I personally like adult contemporary 96+ Prince.
