Prince will never have another chart hit as long as he continues to have no marketing stategy
Now he is in London he should be on Radio One giving interviews, he should be on primetime tv with Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton. Could even do the One Show
He choses not to do it so I guess he has no interest in having anymore hits |

Are y'all hoping for a high chart position so it will validate you being a Prince fan?
The way I see it, if you like it then great. It doesn't matter if 1 other person, or 1 billion other people, like it. You like it, and you have the ability to buy it. And face it: You are going to listen to this song like you listen to every other song - on your music player. There's not a radio station, terrestrial or otherwise, that's playing the kind of music Prince makes. So you have a song that you like, at your fingertips, any time you want.
Isn't that pretty much the end of the story?

this is prince's problem with promo. i saw sheryl crow (by accident) on uk tv twice in a 2/3 days period, and she played the same song both times (she probably did other media aswell) - it gives people a chance to like the song. whereas prince plays one song on tv then releases another one. it really dosen't make sense in a marketing sense, but then why should prince be bothered with all that - except that he does seem to want some form of public respnse/sales of his music. message to prince - focus on one song from the upcoming album and flog it to death on radio/tv/advert/poster/facebook/twitter/film/live. then you might just get a hit if you're lucky.
Seriously? You want Prince to be more like Sheryl Crow? You want to hear him play "Live Out Loud" or "PretzelBodyLogic" ad infinitum? You want him to "flog" his music "to death"? I don't even...
All this whining about Prince not "marketing" himself properly is lame. I'd rather have a hundred obscure, diverse Prince songs than one that panders to the tastes of the lowest common denominator.
This is a grand argument!

Keep listening to this in the hope it will grow on me but sadly it doesn't. Its missing a beat,a groove and more importantly is funkless. Just sounds like a jamming session that turned into a song not the other way round. If this is a taste of the sound of the album then it's I'm going to be very disappointed. 2 out of 5 in my opinion |

That's the most misleading claim to a chart position I think I've ever seen from a major pop star: No.1 on a single e-retailers regional chart for like 5 minutes. Andy Allo was doing the same thing with her Itunes No.1 claim over the summer. Oh well, I guess it's OK to toot your own horn, especially if the sales really aren't there yet. I haven't heard any of this new music. I really do hope it's good. |

As a single, this song is a dud He really should have released that song he performed on New Girl ("Don't U Wanna Fall In Love 2Nite").It's not one of his best, but the hit potential is there...especially after the exposure it received on that show. |

yes, there is nothing wrong with the song per se, but as a 'comeback' single, it's lacking somewhat - but hey it was a hit as soon as it was recorded (in prince's view).
I like it as an album cut or 'under the radar' single re: Fix ur Life, Screwdriver, Rnr Affair - which were better songs.
Somwone else said the track from New Girl would have been better - but i think that was a "prince' song rather than a 3rd eye girl song.
I stil think he will release a solo album very soon. (aswell as an NPG 'horn' based album - re: big city) |

That's actually me now, too ...Love the song, just wish it had more cool musical touches in the "empty" spots of the song. The guitar, bass and drum solos are cool, but musically it's pretty straight-forward. Live, Prince probably wails on the guitar at the end...wish he had done so on the album cut. Ah well... |

"Proper" charts are a week behind the release of singles. They take a week's worth of sales and radio play and then tabulate the chart from that. The only type of chart Prince would have been on during the first 5 days of PBL's release would be download charts like iTunes and Amazon.
I don't expect PBL to make it onto any "proper" charts, though...he doesn't even have a video for th song, he only has a dull teaser for it. There's no label backing the push for radio to play it, and it seems as if Prince couldn't give a rat's ass if it does get played on radio. None of that is good if you're wanting a song to chart "properly". |

Note to Prince fans that want this to be a high charting single and his lame-o manager koo-koo trying to start a lame twitter campaign to get it to #1 First step...you must have a song that is actually really good PBL ain't it. [Edited 2/7/14 6:33am]
The Bieber and Miley Cyrus crap that chart sells because they're good or because they're played to death on the radio? Stop equating charting with quality. And just because YOU don't like PBL doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't. You're not Simon Cowell, your perspective means something only to you.
[Edited 2/7/14 8:40am]
Not equating quailty with the charts. Miley and Bieber are crap. The charts are crap and this song is...crap.

heres the problem .. mileys "we cant stop" is a pop hit because it is a decent song and deservest to be a pop hit .. "wrecking ball" is not as good but unfortunetly both are miles better than the crap prince is putting out .. beibers songs are hits because they are catchy and have hooks .. not because they are horrible songs and the charts mean nothing .. perhaps the delivery and personality is not so good but unfortunately again .. prince personality is even worse .. at least with beiber it feels normal for him to be a spoiled douche .. with prince it is just creepy that he is this spoiled pretentious preachy psycho religious new wave guy that preys on 18 year old girls .. somehow i can excuse beiber more than prince since beiber is still a kid |
