it'll probably go higher once word gets out that it's actually been released lol

/

can't help thinking tho that if he'd released that song from New Girl, after

the show (perhaps with an on screen banner during the show: on sale now

etc etc) which was watched by 25 million + viewers, he would have had a

big hit on his hands.

if only 1% of people would have checked it out, he'd have sold 250,000 units.

ok, so let's say only 0,5% would have been interested, still 125,00 copies. eek

it really was one of the biggest chances at promotion ever, and he chucked it.

Shucks, I didn't know it was released until I saw a reference to it in some other thread. Why the song release doesn't have its own thread, or even a sticky, is a mystery to me.

It wasn't advertised in the New Songs section yesterday but I see it now, so maybe people will finally know it exists.

Prince is over. The song sounds like a 14 year old wrote it. It sounds like something Pink we have sung just after puberty

US? UK? R&B? CAN? AUS? SWZ? nowhere sorry man. Charting on the itunes chart for a week or 2 in the below 50 range does nothing lol

The OP in this thread is about iTunes charting--it's too early for any type of other chart. Immediate downloads is the only chart we can talk about.

And I'm guessing you glossed over BCW charting at #1 on the R&B iTunes chart...either that, or it means nothing because, well, it's R&B?

So,is it safe to say this song ("Pretzelbodylogic") is the 'official first single' from the new album Plectum Electum?

------ Of course RnB means nothing to most of the people on this board. The truth of the matter is "Breakfast Can Wait" is a good RnB song and if he could get RnB radio to play something that a record did not use payola to get on the air the song would have done even better on traditional charts. With I-Tunes at least we know people did actually pay money for the single but you know black dollars do not matter to some people.

Let me ask y'all this:

Are y'all hoping for a high chart position so it will validate you being a Prince fan?

The way I see it, if you like it then great. It doesn't matter if 1 other person, or 1 billion other people, like it. You like it, and you have the ability to buy it. And face it: You are going to listen to this song like you listen to every other song - on your music player. There's not a radio station, terrestrial or otherwise, that's playing the kind of music Prince makes. So you have a song that you like, at your fingertips, any time you want.

Isn't that pretty much the end of the story?

I seriously doubt whatever network New Girl is on would let Prince stick a buy-my-new-single banner on the show.

this is prince's problem with promo. i saw sheryl crow (by accident) on uk tv twice in a 2/3 days period, and she played the same song both times (she probably did other media aswell) - it gives people a chance to like the song. whereas prince plays one song on tv then releases another one. it really dosen't make sense in a marketing sense, but then why should prince be bothered with all that - except that he does seem to want some form of public respnse/sales of his music. message to prince - focus on one song from the upcoming album and flog it to death on radio/tv/advert/poster/facebook/twitter/film/live. then you might just get a hit if you're lucky.

Seriously? You want Prince to be more like Sheryl Crow? You want to hear him play "Live Out Loud" or "PretzelBodyLogic" ad infinitum? You want him to "flog" his music "to death"? I don't even...

All this whining about Prince not "marketing" himself properly is lame. I'd rather have a hundred obscure, diverse Prince songs than one that panders to the tastes of the lowest common denominator.

no he can still have a miriad songs released to the diminishing fanbase that will buy anything he puts out - but there is a bigger world out there of people who barely know he's still making music - i think it's only fair for a talent of his magnitude to at least give himself a chance of reaching their ears - that's all i'm saying - bring on more chocolate invasion and n.e.w.s., but it would be nice to get at least one more album that reaches the masses like purple rain or sign o the times.

Note to Prince fans that want this to be a high charting single and his lame-o manager koo-koo trying to start a lame twitter campaign to get it to #1

First step...you must have a song that is actually really good

PBL ain't it.

The Bieber and Miley Cyrus crap that chart sells because they're good or because they're played to death on the radio? Stop equating charting with quality. And just because YOU don't like PBL doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't. You're not Simon Cowell, your perspective means something only to you.
