So it's official, PlectrumElectrum is on its way. But what do we want to see on it?

First off, I'm a fan of the 3EG setup. Really looking forward to the album. The fact that he took his time is encouraging.

But from the many tracks we have heard, is there stuff you really don't want on the album?

in the press release it's called "the debut album by 3rdeyegirl" instead of

"the new album by prince featuring 3rdeyegirl"

.

it could just be semantics. but i'm on guard now lol

.

what i would like to see on it:

.

none of the stuff we got last year, that stuff was fine on it's own and now

it's time for something mostly new.

.

*the breakdown

*2Y2D (the more rock oriented version they did live)

.

those would be great to have on an album. beyond that i just hope for a

lot of stuff we've never heard even the slightest hint about. all new.

.

didn't they say that "FixUrLifeUp" was the only song from last year that

is going to be on the album? to be honest, i could do without that one, it

never did anything for me. but if it fits in with the flow of the album i'm

thinking i might appreciate it a bit more.

.

now how about an actual release date? will it be released before or just

after the london gigs? the gigs are in celebration of the release, so in a

perfect world we would get the album before the gigs.

.

but this is prince world, so we'll probably get a tour, then nothing for a

month or 2 and then an album falloff

.

anyway, i'm hoping it's released in a week or 2-3 so he'll be able to put

together that NPG album for later this year including "Big City" etc etc.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

The Breakdown for sure. I wouldn't mind Screwdriver either.

I really want 2 hear a new rock version of days of wild with larry graham on base, bambi, and shelby j screaming something in the background, it would be the best prince album ever! I really don´t expect a shit from prince anymore, in that way maybe, maybe I would not be disappointed....

I want the album to be no less than 12 tracks, with most tracks sung by Prince, great artwork and killer liner notes.

"Screwdriver", "The Breakdown" and "Fix Ur Life Up" would be just fine by me. I like some of the other tracks too, but those mentioned just sound more like "album tracks" to me than the rest. A "rockier" version of "2 Young 2 Dare" could be nice though.

If the album title is really going to be "Plectrum Electrum" then I suppose that's going to be there too. The version we've heard so far sounds like one of those unreleased Hendrix instrumental jams and that's okay with me.

The press release is popping up everywhere, and it confirms the album is imminent.

I hope it's the case but you can't help but be cautious the way he changes his mind. Also, hope Breakdown is on there as you say and Live Out Loud is a new version.

It depends. However Prince places the songs will be what makes it work. Not a big fan of Fix Ur life Up/Live out Loud, but will depend on how he lines those up and how's he gonna fit in that That Girl Thang?

Shelby J would add a punk ingredient. She might be the Johnny Rotten of the new millenium.

Since they already "confirmed" that Fix Ur Life Up is the only previously heard song on there, I don't expect Live Out Loud to be on there. I sure hope it isn't!!!

Where was that mentioned?

Donna simply referred to the song in that interview, saying that the rest of the album will sound similar, but I don't recall her or anyone else involved saying that it's the only song on the album we've already heard.

They said so during that twitter "interview" a few months back.

Minority opinion here but I would love to see "R & R Love Affair" on the new CD. This tune (and Groovy Potential) flow nicely and have a sincere tone about them that I enjoy.

I would prefer if Screwdriver, Groovy potential and Fixurlifeup were not in the album; I like the first two of them, but I've known them for quite a while now, I'd rather have new music; a few months back one of the girls said something about re recording The Breakdown, and if we get a rockier version of that song I would be a very happy chappy; I also really enjoyed the instrumental tracks they released in the livestreams, so anything on that line will be good for me. And, as someone mentioned, the fact that they have taken their time to release it is a good sign... But enough now, release it!

i DEFINITELY want to hear 2Y2D + as it was done on the tour and The Breakdown....

please, let screwdriver RIP already... same with FixUreLifeUp.. they just feel forced....

and please NO groovy potential... no RNR Affair.... for me they are all just too flat.. nothing dynamic at all... just not my thing i guess..

NO BALLADS!

just f*cking BLAST THAT GUITAR and show the world that you are the BEST guitar player with NO DOUBT!

For me, just a great studio version of The Breakdown out of last year's tracks, as I regard the 2013 released stuff as an album in its own right (if not that cohesive). Hopefully the rest of the new album will be truly 'new', with some stronger song-writing than we've heard of late and a more original sounding ballad or two (no more photocopied versions of Adore, Insatiable, She Loves Me For Me etc) smile .

I'd love a great version of THE BREAKDOWN but I fear he will butcher the song in the studio. The smuckfest version was great. FIXURLIFEUP is probably the better of the already released songs from last year but the band version is not so great .. the remix has more space and a cooler feel .. even so .. its not a great song or anything .. I would like to think the 2013 songs will be treated like the HOT SUMMER, CAUSE N EFFECTs of the 20Ten era. As in .. they wont end up on the record and the actual record wont be AS bad as those sort of pre singles .. so if PLECTRUM on the whole is better than the tossers he gave us in 2013 than that would be great.

I would much rather hear a real mix of cool stuff from prince like ...

THE BREAKDOWN

EXTRALOVEABLE

MOONBEAM LEVELS

OLD FRIENDS FOR SALE W/HORNS

SO DARK W/HORNS

BIG CITY (w/better lyrics)

SO FAR SO PLEASED W/3RD EYE

THE MAX W/3RD EYE

COLONIZED MIND W/3RD EYE

SIGN O THE TIMES W/3RD EYE

THE DANCE ELECTRIC

some new some old and none of the bad 2013 crap

I would have loved an instrumental jazz rock album in the spirit of the tracks we got last year but if FixUrLifeUp is on it it may be more garage rock with vocals, or maybe an odd mix of both. I'd love to have Screwdriver and Live Out Loud on it. I doubt any of the funk songs will be on it but they would make a nice "Prince" album later that year.
