U'r still the One...Rave Un2 potential? I'm not a fan of the Shania Twain song "You're Still the One" personally, however the version Prince recorded in 1999 really has appeal. Classic Prince treatment turns this into a great rock ballad with a blistering guitar solo I'd have far preferred to see receive a home on that years "Rave" album in place of cringe worthy "Everyday is a winding road".
Another gem lost to history. [Edited 11/14/13 23:38pm]

I'm not positive that I've heard it, but maybe, because I have a feeling that I agree.

Yeah, it would have been an improvement over the "Everyday Is A Winding Road" cover. Would have worked especially with tracks like "Beautiful Strange" included as well.

Haha, exactly! As disappointing as much of Rave was, that track in particular was the worst... and although time has been somewhat kind (in my experience) to much of Rave (for example, The Greatest Romance isn't the horrendous pile of shit I once thought it was), Everyday is a Winding Road has just gotten worse over the years. Especially when Larry starts yelling. UGH. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I liked Crow's version okay... but I have no idea what Prince was thinking when he did the track. Just so bouncy--and while I'm not a big Larry hater, if I want to have bad feelings toward him, all I have to do is think of this recording.
A studio version of U're Still the One might be okay, actually. I liked it, but it's one of those where it just sounds so bad...

I love that track and was very surprised when P covered it. The guitar work was excellent in what we have heard.
Too bad it was only a snippet and only in RealAudio format or whatever crap it was back then....
What I would give for the full version in SBD ..... Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

I like Prince's version of Everyday Is A Winding Road and never understood the roasting it seems to get round these parts.
Just a fun disco-inspired cover...

Everyday Is A Pile of Crap seemed like it was recorded just so P and LG could go on about Everyday People without copyright infringements to Sly.

I just dug this up because of this thread, great stuff
and it is longer than I remembered..my crap memory told me it was like 90 seconds
but it's over 3 minutes long
it still fades out on that great guitar solo though ;( Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

Yep...I am always right there with you when you talk about his guitar work and solo's fading etc Captain. Nothing Compares 2 a ripping Prince guitar solo and far too often his guitar work is too low in the mix, too condensed, overdubbed with random lyric ad libs and generally obscured to the point where only a live version of the track can truly allow the guitar track to shine as it should in a song.
