I don't think that is what the gap is about no. But every time I hear/read him say "I think album now is my best", or something similar, I think "Prince..... come on now, Priiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiincaaaahhhhh!...... Who you tryin' to kid, us or yourself?!"
Prince has always said that with each new project. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment |

Insecure most likely NOT! The man has always done what he has wanted that will never change.
Prince should just experiment with selling a music CD direct like Andy's Superconducter. That way he wont have to worry about chart position and can put out a wide variety of music. When he wants to chart put it out on Kobalt. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment |

Yes - although he may not be likely to admit it.
On a talk show earlier this week, the interviewer asked if the artist was nervous about putting out a new release. He said he is always nervous because the material is new and he is afraid it won't live up to things he's put out in the past or that it won't be received well from fans and critics. In thinking about Prince - I cannot help but think he must feel the same way. It is especially true if you take a "break" between releases and are someone who has endured rapid changes in the record industry, market demographics, and have outlived the success of your initial peers. The artist interviewed, by the way, was none other than... ELTON JOHN. |
