2 VS. NPG Hornz Whatever happened to the days when all Prince needed was one saxophone player and one trumpet player?Now he's got like 50 horn players on stage.It's cool sometimes don't get me wrong but for the most part its overkill.I don't think 1999 needs all those horns and to me Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss sounded way better with just the two of them. He dont need horns at all. if he wanna play 1999 he needs only a synth. horns are great otherwise but in Princes music horns are boring. | |

I'm probably a bit biased cuz I play horns...but... Its not as if he always has horns around. He goes looong periods without any at all...and periods with every few. I'm certain y'all can be assured these horns won't be here forever by any means. Prince changes his stage show like an NBA player changes socks. There weren't none at the Superbowl...there weren't none in 93 at the vh1 honors I mentioned on another thread...he had the mike and Maceo show for a bit. They'll b here and then be gone...quit complaining like its mount Rushmore trying to be there for forever. At least u can be confident that he switches shit up and adds variety as to what comes off his stage. | |

can he play any horn instruments? maybe that is why he likes them so much because he can't
they worked well on the Musicology tour so perhaps he is just getting ready for a Musicology 2 tour with more horns, etc.
he is certainly rehearsing that same set list for a while now.........u could almost picture a tour where Shelby&Liv open the show followed by 3rdeyegirl/Prince rock set and then the Hornz/Prince set at the end who knows | |

I love the hornz. Extralovable is so much better with the hornz. Superconductor is a song for hornz. Etc Etc. I like that Prince is re-arranging some of his songs and writing new songs for this new NPG configuration. Otherwise he gets bored. And we get bored. I would love to hear them live, must be incredible. ...every night another symphony... | |

It's clutter for sure. I watched part of one of his ustream shows and I had mixed feelings about what I saw. There were too many people onstage and no real visual order to anything. They sound good though, but overall I didn't want to watch them. | |
