SexkyKinkyJazzySmooth-Tribute 2 Prince Has anybody bought this? Has some vocals by Solomon Burke Jr., Brian Chapman,on PR and the songs are with jazz-trip hop etc translations of songs. Tacklist is:
Delirious Purple Rain-Solomon voclas sounds Tom Jones-ish but the back music is like big band hornsish Adore-(this one is smooth jazz trip hop sounding instrumental..cool) Girls and Boys-jazz bandish with muted trumpet doing th e vocals 7-more subdued vocals then PR and sounds latin influenced like the end of a sphaghetti western credits section..horns When Doves Cry-jazz instrumental broken down..to simple elements on each instrument..cello, jazz drum inflections, piano.. Rock Hard In A Funky Place-another instrumental--unfamiliar at first...but the horn sections jazz style take over the vocals here again Letitgo-jazzy funk and Solomon Burke again--he is a very over dramatic singer sometimes lol Pop Life-Brian Chapman vocals..jazzy styled Hot Thing-instrumental--pinao and drums doing the synth work then the horns come in jazzy style like the horns on national Anthem and it breaks down to jazz time inprovs etc muted trumpet, piano etc Little Red Corvette-Samba style, weird..muted trumpoet, flute, samba backing, this is sweet lol Anotherloverholenyohead-swing jazz and live drumming making it swing with the drum as the bottom..vocals again Solomon but the drumming and live instrumentation make his semi-swing Mostly a jazz instumentalization of Prince songs which is a cool translation imho.Rainy Day type of music but ore upbeat. One of the better tribute albums yeah, he's yet to receive a really good high profile one though. | |
