Not anymore. Years ago? For sure. I was begging for them.

I get all of his stuff for free now. He plays his games, I play mine. That ship sailed when he sued his fans and sicked lawyers on a silly dancing baby. He could have made his stuff available for his hardcore fans a long time ago and been done with this ridiculous YouTube/internet/I Need to Get Paid battle he think is worth waging, or followed the model of several other bands and artists that know that their fans butter their bread, but hey, he just has to be Prince and makes things difficult.

Yes--if it's Prince or an associated artist. I'd buy a CD for the sound quality, the liner notes, and the artwork.

With some artists, I stick to physical cds, no matter if I have digital copies or not, but then with others I just want the audio file, mp3, etc. I still buy physical cds and like most of you, if theres lyrics, pictures, credits, beside the music being great, thats just fine and dandy. Anything else the artists want to do to go further in the interaction of the physical product, great. But I gave away a lot of my physical cd collection. Cds IMO are kind of becoming a dead medium; a waste of space. Some I held on to, but my physical collection is very limited now and grows even more leisurely. As far as Prince goes, I would buy new music from him but unfortunately itd have to be digital. I love the stuff hes doing with 3rd Eye Girl, love this topic by the way too, but at this point have no use for anything other than the 650 megabytes.

I buy digital except for my favorite artists, then I buy the CD.

Extremely well-said. I'd still pay huge money for remasters, but your statement really resonates. Hearing 'Mr. Goodnight', with his private jets and such, cry about getting paid really rings hollow to me. This is the same guy who said "music should be free, like air"?

Don't get me wrong: I'm not asking for free music. But loosening the leash as regards his old stuff popping up on youtube would only make people want to buy the new stuff.

But what the hell, this has been discussed again and again... sad

I would buy, but the physical means nothing to me, it'll just get ripped them chucked in a box for the loft. Lossless HD digital download would be preferred.

RIP sad

Yes I prefer vinyls 2! I'm not against getting music digitally, but vinyl makes good music from real artists sound authentic music

Absolutely.

Though I would rather get a VINYL record with a digital download, which seems to be the growing norm nowadays.
