Weird little ditty:

Purple, no green: Prince ...restaurant

Prince went to Michael White’s Soho restaurant Costata Friday night, but couldn’t pay the bill because he forgot cash. Spies said his Purpleness, who performed at City Winery Thursday night to a full house, rolled in with “an afro and a pimp cane.” But while his guest had pasta, scallops, veggies and fries, Prince didn’t eat. “He simply drank royal blushes,” a spy said. He handed the check to his security guard, who then called the restaurant manager over, saying somehow Prince’s management forgot to give them cash. Sources said the guard left his number and said he would be in touch the next day to pay up. No word yet if that happened.

I dunno if they'll ever get paid...but this alone, we'll need to bookmark this place for the next Org Invasion in NYC.

Prince is like the Queen. He doesn't carry cash.

Prince Dined and Dashed at Costata, and He Still Hasn’t Paid

On Friday, Prince waltzed into Costata "with an afro and a pimp cane." His guests feasted; Prince drank Royal Blush Champagne-vodka cocktails. When the check came, Prince handed it to his security guard. The security guard then called Prince's manager, who realized that he forgot to give Prince money. The guard gave his number to the staff and said he'd follow up and pay the bill the next day. (Prince's new single is called "Breakfast Can Wait." Paying apparently can, too.) And yet a rep for Michael White's Altamarea Group confirms to Grub that Costata is "still waiting." Meanwhile, Prince continues to conduct business as usual: He performed an insane five-hour show at City Winery with Doug E. Fresh and Larry Graham last night and has probably forgotten all about the bill.

Actually its free publicity! When a big superstar like Prince eats @ an establishment or wears a designers clothes. So a lot of times the business or designer won't charge them. It happens all the time. This business is going to have droves of customers now with this news. So the charge should be on them now..

I dunno...I hear all the time about big stars leaving enourmous tips at restaurants...THAT'S the kind of publicity I'd want as a star.

I dunno...I hear all the time about big stars leaving enourmous tips at restaurants...THAT'S the kind of publicity I'd want as a star.

Eye'm sure they do give big tips to the waif staff. But its an open secret in the industry. That as big and rich as U get! The less u have to pay...

I disagree - the place still has to make a living and pay it's staff. And really this is negative publicity for Prince - not having the money to pay !!!!!! Sounds so bad -

I wonder if they did settle the bill?

You're right...but clearly they didn't pick one of those places, and didn't want to dine at one of those publciity hungry spots.

They weren't invited to dine free, and the publicists didn't have an arrangement.

Instead they showed up with a large party, and reportedly nobody planned on pulling out a credit card...probably because they realized they were getting screwed and there was no arranged meal stipend.

You're right...but clearly they didn't pick one of those places, and didn't want to dine at one of those publciity hungry spots.

I seriously doubt Prince showed up with a large party! He simply doesn't roll like that. If he did he would have made sure they were compensated. This place is just trying to get free publicity & throw Prince name under the bus @ the same time...

How would you or I know that?

I wouldn't have thought Prince went out to dinner, but look at that, turns out he does!

What we do know is his clothes lack pockets.

We also know if they were just trying to get publicity, they would have lied and said it was Bieber.

In New York, a large party can be construed as bigger than a 4 top, btw.
