Prince Finally Pays for Costata Dinner, Leaves $500 Tip

It looks like the Internet has shamed Prince into shelling out cash for his meal on Friday: A rep for Michael White's Altamarea Group confirms to Grub that his manager called Costata yesterday afternoon to pay the bill — and left a $500 tip. Now it makes sense why Prince told the crowd at his secret City Winery show, "I'm really tired of people pleasing." [Earlier, Vulture]

I think it's a good thing that the bill and a very nice tip were paid but if he's "really tired of people pleasing", perhaps he should stop hanging out with people that eat, drink and be merry then look to him to pay the bill!

Just a thought. lol

This is just an honest mistake. No big deal.

So Prince has to commit a crime against humanity before we can point out questionable ethics, and abusing celebrity privilege? Well, in that case!

I had a very rich friend. Who knew I had no money. And he always made sure he'd had the bill before me. So, I would never be in the position to even have to decide about paying for us.

I always apreciated that very much.

That's cool as long as your friend doesn't complain about being "really tired of people pleasing" when you're not around.

Is there any reason to tie this comment to the restaurant incident? Sounds like just a reference to "People Pleaser" and it's ideas, which I don't think mention anything about paying bills.

I'm not tying it to anything. I read the quote in this post:

I guess technically "People Pleaser" is Andy Allo's song--but it was played at the City Winery show, as it has been pretty frequently for the last couple of years. No reason to assume that the writer of the article knew that--or cared, actually--and I knew you weren't the one making the original connection. I am surprised that you (apparently) haven't heard of the song, though.

lol cool (psst psst your doing mary's ma'am)

The thing is that Prince walks in but has many handlers who handle things. If they promise something and don't follow up (for whatever reason) Prince's his name is on the line.

In this case I can get why a handler doesn't pay in advance from his pocket smile

There is a change it is expensive and won't get back.

Careful there.

Care to explain your comment here?

Why "Careful there?" If someone saw the guy drinking royal blushes, why does that concern you?

Are you one of those dips who believes "Prince doesn't drink?"

Or are you just threadcrapping to push your post # up?

Prince Dined and Dashed at Costata, and He Still Hasn’t Paid

On Friday, Prince waltzed into Costata "with an afro and a pimp cane." His guests feasted; Prince drank Royal Blush Champagne-vodka cocktails. When the check came, Prince handed it to his security guard. The security guard then called Prince's manager, who realized that he forgot to give Prince money. The guard gave his number to the staff and said he'd follow up and pay the bill the next day. (Prince's new single is called "Breakfast Can Wait." Paying apparently can, too.) And yet a rep for Michael White's Altamarea Group confirms to Grub that Costata is "still waiting." Meanwhile, Prince continues to conduct business as usual: He performed an insane five-hour show at City Winery with Doug E. Fresh and Larry Graham last night and has probably forgotten all about the bill.

Why didn't Prince's manager pay over the phone? Don't they use credit cards???

^^ this, rather weird be goes out without any money, perhaps he needs a Babbage since his pants don't seem to have pockets.
Why go out to a restaurant and just drink while everyone eats?

If it was an unexpected meal out, then I guess not, as you have explained, but if he knew it was happening, I would have thought it strange

Yes, the man should get dirty himself once in a while.

Next restaurantowner should not let him go, but send him straight to the kitchen.
