Parade birthday gig - Japenese laser disc ?

I read that the show was released on laser disc, is that true ? and there is a version of the show circulating with Soft & Wet on it, where did it come from ? was it shown on TV ? (I know that an edited version was on TV way back in '86)

hope some1 can shed some light on this!

I've seen this gig - it's great!! I used to have it on VHS, but somebody stole that! If anyone knows how I can get a hold of copy, I would be very appreciative. (I'm assuming its not a bootleg - although mine was a copy, the release looked official enough!

It was shown on TV. It was his Birthday gig in Detroit when he sane " How much is that doggy in the window" Paula Yates introduced it! A great show!

The show was edited to 60 minutes and broadcast in Europe.

A shorter (45 minute) version was also broadcast in Japan. The shorter version was also broadcast when the show ran a second time in the UK

I have this on casette: it is the "Parade" tour:

It is the source of the "Anotherloverholeinyohead" video, (the song actually plays out a lot longer)

It's the only time I've heard "Mountains" live. He performs "Mutiny" live too.

It's a real trip, because after every couple of songs, there is a Japaneese commercial(s), for electronic crap, then: back to Prince! He sings "Head" on his back, then, "hey check out this laser disc player"!

The "Parade" tour was so breezy and fun.

After the Concert, the casette I have contains the filming of the "Mountains" video: it's in bad shape, but it's neat to see a clap-board in front of Prince's face before he jumps off the piano with the Tamborine and scarf in his hand, or the 20 rehersals of shaking the maracas with the Revolution in the B.g., or running; there are are a million takes of W & L at the piano with Wendy sitting on the Piano on the guitar: That moment of Lisa blowing her hair out of her face: the camera is on her for most of the song and she blows the hair away like 50 times.

You can tell with the 100 takes Prince and company is getting bored, or restless. Prince did weird things with holding the tamborine up to his face and the director yelling, "CUT!" and then he wanders away and the Revolution wanders about.

It's a neat inside view of a making of a Prince Video, and how boring videos are to make.
