Yeah that! Just think of all the box sets and awesome live shows he released before he became a JW.

Ok, back to reality. No matter what your opinion of his religion is, it has nothing to do with his lack of ability to properly release material, and his incredible lack of understanding that the financial value of his unreleased material goes down each year as more and more of his fans get old, die, or simply quit caring. Despite the fact that there is a nice fan base of those under 25, there are not millions of people rushing to spend money on him anymore, and the remasters and box set phase of possibly profitability has likely long since passed.

I don't c WTF Prince's terrible management of his back catalogue has anything to do with him being a JW

If there's another reason save him not giving a fuck about it, it's either that, as he said several times, piracy makes records sale less profitable as they were, or it can also be the fact that he's waiting to get the shit back from WB... or God knows what else, but leave the JW's outta this

Prince treating his fans poorly is a matter of perspective. Sure, when you are a old and spoiled it has gotta be tough. Tell me about it.

But I've long let that go and for even longer have realised that it has nothing to do with religion.

His business and personality however are a different matter.

Prince fans should know this by now: Prince isn't just about money, he is mostly about control.

He simply wants to control whatever is being done with his music. And if possible make a lot of money on it too.

So don't do things with his music that are outside his control; he hates that and may just "C&D" you even if you are not making any money.

But if you are, you can be sure he will try and go after you.

Prince does it because he knows he can and he is trading on his 80s legacy. But Mr Prince may be in for a nasty surprise if he keeps it up. People can only take so much abuse. Generally we can tolerate underpar music and non existent albums, but the face book gagging is the last straw.

Does this man not want fans of what, he is acting like such a prat lately. I mean other artists encourage fandom and discussion about their music and even sharing it at times. Has Prince ever noticed the reason why there are so many bootlegs and illegal or pirated stuff doing the rounds is because that he is such a maniac at trying to suppress it. Prince once said that "God gave him his gifts and its his job to bring it forth" Well he ain't doing it, one mediocre song every now and then is not enough, yes he is a spent force, but if he was more open, he would have more fans and his live shows are proof that he has still got it and a big draw.


The thing about the Australian tour was the number of casual fans attending along with the hardcore. Being more accessible and less arrogant, would make many of the casual fans into hardcore ones. The problem is Prince knows his 80s music was great, but he can't be bothered making it more accessible to people and thus they find their own ways of getting it.

I think of other stunts, like his gagging of Youtube, limited releases of 20Ten, the Lotuflow3r site debacle and the fact this overshadowed what was a great album. The guy only cares about our money, not us and he probably goves it all to his money church any way. Prince may be a talented musician, but he's a bloody stupid human being.

If pirating wasn't so prevalent we may have had more stuff released.

As far as Prince's arrogance: it's here to stay. Prince has been receiving tributes this year left and right. From the Carnegie Hall tribute, to half ass tribute bands and artists who were immensely inspired by him. If you don't think, that's going to swell Prince's head even further, then people are delusional. For better of for worse, Prince is who he is. I don't condone his behavior, but if people didn't stop coming to this board and paying attention to him when he made "F.U.N.K." then nothing Prince does negatively will.
