Camille versus The Black Album

Since reading all the threads about the Camille album I have enthusiastically constructed my own version. An album whoe idea and tracklisting once made me sleepy with boredom is now in non-stop rotation in me ride!

I was bored because I had heard all the songs and wantd something new.The idea of all those wierdly syncopated beats and shriek-high vocals ,on one collection, seemed like an annoying ploy to me.I mean, who the hell wants to hear 40 some odd minuts of that shit??Prince's vocals were out of control and the songs played at weird speeds.

Get the fuck outta here!!

Here comes the Black Album, chick.(and Wu Tang Clan ain't nuttin' to fuck wit!)Funk at its deepest level.Funk to the core! This funk ain't playin' and this funk will pimp slap yo ass like Iceberg Slim!!

Te Black Album is murky water, man. There is humor, but it's the Richard Pryor laughing-at-how-I-burned-myself-and-will-never-forget-the-searing-pain-of-skin-grafts- kinda' humor. It's cynical, painful, dark, and self-mocking humor. This shit ain't cute by a damn sight. There's anger in them thar hills!!

This is some shit I can get into!

I used to say that Black was Prince's funkiest album ever. And TRC maybe the "blackest".camille would have been the quirkiest.

Black is still the funkiest.Funky in that totally subversive way.Funky like the angry and alarming Lady Cab Driver shout-out fuck,But,dammitt, camille is the funkiest in a fun, inclusive, party way.More people would have filled dance floors drunk, flirting, and smiling with Camille's collection than Black's.camille would have been a small smash.(her fine ass!)

Camille, you take her to the prom.Black you meet behind the bleachers.

I'm addicted to Camille now.I even made an alt. version that includes Crucial after shockadelica.

Hot damn!!!

Camille is far stronger, in my opinion.

But then i've always thought the Black Album was over-hyped and kinda ho-hum.

And funkier? Yes. Camille, by a large large portion.

I recently made a version of Camille to, but I tweaked it a bit and didn't include many album versions. It went something like this.

1. Rebirth of the Flesh
2. Rockhard in a Funky Place
3. Shockadelica - 12" version
4. Scarlet Pussy - 12" version
5. La, La, La, He, He, Hee - 12" version
6. Good Love - Bright Lights Big City version
7. Feel U Up - Long Stroke
8. U Got The Look - Long Look
9. Housequake - 7 Minutes MoQuake
10. Hot Thing - extended remix
11. Witness - Camille version
12. Crystal Ball - stripped down, demoey version

It fills an 80 minute disc to the max. And the songs flow very well. I'm loving it a lot.

In answer to the question though, I like both projects about equally.

Do we all consider "Love Or $" as Camille's first unofficial appearance?

I wish he had used the Camille voice on "Come On" - it would be so cool.

He did use the Camille voice on "Come On".

There are several songs that used the Camille voice that weren't credited to Camille.

Erotic City
Love or Money
Partyman
Sex
Good Man
Baby Knows
Come On

He used his first speeded-up voice on '1999''s 'Automatic':

"Stop the music baby...

It's automatic too...

ooh ooh oh oh oh ooh!!!"
