It is incredible, but that solo wasn't performed for The Rapture. I read on the org that it's a slowed down solo from a solo Prince did for a related artist, maybe Sheila E.?? I hope I can find out which track so I can take a listen..

'Dear Michaelangelo' by Sheila E. from her very underrated Romance 1600 album.

Thanks Swang. Now all I need is my Romance 1600 CD (it's currently in Oz, while I'm in Singapore)

I had no idea too until recently. The solo fits in so well, I would never have had a clue!

If you gonna get this CD, at least get the Japanese version with the partyman remixes.

Co-sign. Sometimes I just have to listen to this EP just to
hear that dirty voice going

"Purple Party Mix, Purple Party Mix, Purple Party Mix"

This CD is one of my favourite. And to think when I found it I didn't know any of the remixes of Scandalous or Partyman existed, or about the b-sides (I was a new fan once). It was a nice surprise!

That Purple Party Mix voice is almost equal to the voice of the 'The Latest Fashion' on a 12" saying:"This is the latest fashion get your partner on the floor, this is the latest fashion get your partner on the floor"

Normally, I am not very keen on singles - they simply begin to bore me too quickly; hence I do not have that many singles with the Man but I really enjoy this one.

That's what so nice about those Japanese editions, they often have more tracks so they play like real albums. Makes you not have to chance CDs every 15 minutes.

Is it my imagination, or does the sound of the Japanese pressings sound superior too?

You have to have a good system/headphones to hear it, but yes. The CDs itself are superiour to, since they are often printed on heavier gold discs.

I'm into Hi-Fi, and have a Hi-Fi in Melbourne with all my Prince records (the Hi-Fi being a Luxman amp, Luxman CD player and proper speakers), but more importantly have listened to some high-end systems with various CDs. Basically, the sound of Prince CDs is dead, and it's not restricted to SOTT. There is something completely lacking in the sound.

The only Japanese CDs I have are Scandalous, Arms of Orion, and The Family. They all sound great, although The Family on vinyl still sounds a lot better than on CD, but that's a different issue.

For the record, I live in Singapore with only a selected collection of Prince CDs, and I play them on a new Pioneer stereo (one of those things with all the buttons and an enormous PMPO).

Romance 1600 is one of my fav. PP albums.

Dear Michaelangelo I used to be obsessed by, and Toy Box is way funky!

The title track is crazy and perfect for the era smile
