Weird little ditty:
- Last Updated: 8:42 AM, August 26, 2013
Prince went to Michael White’s Soho restaurant Costata Friday night, but couldn’t pay the bill because he forgot cash. Spies said his Purpleness, who performed at City Winery Thursday night to a full house, rolled in with “an afro and a pimp cane.” But while his guest had pasta, scallops, veggies and fries, Prince didn’t eat. “He simply drank royal blushes,” a spy said. He handed the check to his security guard, who then called the restaurant manager over, saying somehow Prince’s management forgot to give them cash. Sources said the guard left his number and said he would be in touch the next day to pay up. No word yet if that happened.
This publicity should pay the restaurant more than enough. Is everybody wet? |

When agreed upon beforehand it would be a nice gesture but afterwards...people had to work for it and assuming it is free or should be free (as mentioned here) is weird.

Prince Finally Pays for Costata Dinner, Leaves $500 Tip
It looks like the Internet has shamed Prince into shelling out cash for his meal on Friday: A rep for Michael White's Altamarea Group confirms to Grub that his manager called Costata yesterday afternoon to pay the bill — and left a $500 tip. Now it makes sense why Prince told the crowd at his secret City Winery show, "I'm really tired of people pleasing." [Earlier, Vulture]

Actually its free publicity! When a big superstar like Prince eats @ an establishment or wears a designers clothes. So a lot of times the business or designer won't charge them. It happens all the time. This business is going to have droves of customers now with this news. So the charge should be on them now..

Very strange how the already rich and famous expect gifts from ordinary restaurant owners.
I mean, I post a lot of Prince material on my fb. So, I should get free tickets and flights and hotelcosts for his shows?
If you make a deal upfront, generating publicity for a free meal, than yes. But this seemed as an honest mistake. And Prince management should wire the money to the restaurant.
The reason why Prince is respected is because he didn't participate in many of those deals.
He cooperated with Samsung and other companies, but that was not about gossippy drama in order to generate attention to a restaurant or club.
99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%. |

maybe one of the others should have paid the tab? i hope he doesn't always get hit with the bill just because he's prince
I hope he doesn't too, but the piece says he took the bill and gave it to a handler. The job was to handle it, so I don't think Prince or his guests even knew about the money issue. But not his guests at least. (I know I wouldn't announce it to my guests.). And if they've read about this - his guests probably feel bad?
If his guest would feel bad about this, they are silly.
It's not a big thing.
Besides, he doesn't eat.

It's unethical, and a form of theft. I mean, people are right, the Chef should have donated his salary that day to Prince, or done like we all do, and give a annual percentage of our earnings as ties. It's unfathomable the world isn't a Prince fan, and we all owe him our lives. We should be laboring for him right now. Plowing his fields, and picking his cotton. |

Exactly! Prince not eating @ all. Puts a whole other spin on this not being his fault @ all. Prince taking care of this bill should be prove enough to end this thread once & for all.... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! What's happening in Syria is unethical.
Monsanto is unethical.
This is just an honest mistake. No big deal.
And my example was meant ironically. I think Prince did not expect the restaurant to give him a free ride.
By the way, Prince doesn't eat.

What total BS. They should be grateful someone ripped them off?
"Hey...umm...Prince, we can't pay you for the show man...I forgot to brang yo money...lol. We'll get back to you in a few days. The cool part is you got to play in front if a bunch of people in a well known venue, so that makes us kind of even..right?"
It probably didn't happen - like he didn't break that dudes guitar on Jimmy Fallon. |
