I love C & D! That was part of the soundtrack to my summer back in '96. Now MPLSound on the other hand... "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

I like most of Emancipation, the songs are great: Prince 4Ever.

I'm surprised no one said Around The World In A Day. Love the singles. Everything else is..meh:-

I'll give a little and say that TRC is a least "interesting", but can we agree that MPLSound is the laziest most putrid Prince album ever?

Thanks guys, I feel good all over now, my defence of Chaos and Disorder has lead to an out pouring of love for this woefully under rated album.
Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Here's what I think are Prince's WORST albums.
[Edited 8/27/13 10:59am] "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.
RIAA 'nuff said. | |||||||||||

Every timer there is a "worst" album thread, I'm surprised at what some of define as horrible. It's one thing to not like a song or 2, but to classify albums like , TRC, Lotus, MPLSound, Emancipaion, etc. as the WORST is just a crime. Albums like these may not be greatness, but they all have great moments. ALL Prince albums have highs and lows. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Why do people hate Planet earth so much? Its not that bad, there are many albums far worse. Seriously what is with all the venom for it. The music on it is avearge, the bedroom raps like Mr Goodnight and Future Baby Mama, are a bit trite. All te midnights in the world is saccharine, but its still en joyable. Guitar, Lion of Judah and Chelsea Rogers are standouts though. How many standouts are there on the precious golden tome you all worship called the Rainbow children. Eye luv Planet Earth! There is a difference between creative albums and bad ones. U must know the difference. [Edited 8/27/13 15:10pm]

Well, I absolutely DIG Planet Earth and The Rainbow Children. To me, Planet Earth was a semi-welcome-return to the more organic sound he was exploring prior to Musicology-3121, with songs such as Lion of Judah, All The Midnights In The World, Somewhere Here on Earth, Guitar, Chelsea Rodgers and the title track, Planet Earth. As a whole, the album also felt more "fluid" than the sometimes stop-start forced sound of Musicology-3121. It was like his mojo wasn't quite in motion with these two, but came stronger with Planet Earth and then tore the hinges off with the original incarnation of Lotus Flower.

Coming after two big US-centric albums it didn't have the big American promo-push that those two had and it's a bit more a mixture of styles rather than being super-heavy on R&B pop like said preceeding albums...... is my guess.

Nouveau, that's a useful insight. Just out of curiosity, do you like Planet Earth? You must at least like the freak flag Prince was waving with the Cover Art to the album.

I like it very much. Switch out a couple of tracks that I'm not that fond of and it's probably my favourite post-TRC album except for Lotusflow3r.
Agree with everything you said in reply #78. [Edited 8/28/13 2:25am]

I'm not really fond of that album. It actually bores me
It has a couple of good songs ("Paisley Park","Pop Life") but nothing really outstanding.
I think of it as a Beatles tribute, but it's not a very exciting one. It's my least favorite 80s Prince album.

I also love Planet Earth, my favourite post-The Rainbow Children, without a doubt. Like Noveau says, it has an organic sound and a strong mixture of styles. But I think the genre that prevails is a light pop-rock à la Around The World In A Day, which Prince does wonderfully. I see that in almost half of the songs, but there's also the amazing funk track "Chelsea Rodgers" and probably his best ballad of the decade, "Somewhere Here On Earth". [Edited 8/28/13 3:03am]

It is far too easy to jump on the bandwagon and argue C&D was his worst, I think it is a very good album, in fact, if for its rawness.
Xpectation and N.E.W.S. are for me the path where I never want Prince to ever head again. http://www.goldiesparade.co.uk/ - Prince discography, tour history, news and more.

So, the top WORST P albums so far are (in no particular order) Chaos & Disorder Xpectation N.E.W.S.

Replace Dig U Better Dead & I Rock, therefore I Am with Calhoun Square, Da Bang and Empty Room and you've got yourself a pretty consistent Rock-styled album. Since doing that, I play it loads [Edited 8/28/13 11:27am] blah blah blah

wtf? chaos and disorder stands miles above albums like ''planet earth'' or what's his latest called? It's embarrassing how Prince has ''evolved'' the last few years. But the good thing is...P. can always return...i hope for it, one day...

Rainbow/Lotus and Emancipation cannot be rated as worse albums ofcourse..it's good too many great things on them..although dispersed..but honestly what good is on 20ten? I can't believe people actually like what is on Planet Earth..what is fresh or exciting new about it? Oh well...
