This is "Hot Mess" by Sam Sparro.
Direct Prince influence here. His whole album titled "Sam Sparro" is freaking amazing. He channels Prince so well, but has his own style too, so I don't really feel like he is copying him, but instead innovating on what Prince has already brought to the table. I'm sorry, but this body of work can't be taken seriously without a mention of Georgio

1. As you clearly said above, In Your Humble OPINION, Lewis pays homage to P in that song. Your opinion doesn't make it a fact, unless you provide some clear proofs (interviews, statement from Lewis, etc).
2. I never mentioned anywhere that my opinion about that song is FACT. I'm entitled to my own opinion as you are, and arguing over statements of value (e.g., opinion) is an exercise in futility. So no need to get all butthurt when someone disagrees with your judgment.
3. I stand by my opinion that there's no noticeable P's influence in "you got me thinking" much less an homage/tribute to P. If you're a real Lewis fan, you should know that Lewis has repeatedly mentioned Marvin, Brian Wilson, Captain Beefheart as his influence, but he never publicly mentioned Prince. He hated comparisons to Prince, neo-soul artists, Simply Red, and he even tried to distance himself from the whole thing by recording a prog-rock sophomore that is now known as "The Lost Album".
Enough OOT about LT, this is not a Lewis Taylor thread (he has retired peacefully from the music business anyway). So, chill mate Is everybody wet? | |
