Other artists' Prince tribute/homage/impersonations GALORE Edit:
Post any songs from other artists that pay homage/tribute or even attempt to impersonate Prince, good or bad.
Starting with the most obvious.
More to come, hopefully.

Actually his debut was an enjoyable record, but in that particular song (100 Ways) he doesn't seem to offer anything memorable but a mere bland impersonation of Prince. He's a good vocalist, I'd say a stronger vocalist than his former bandmate JT.

THIS is why I dont like P's music nowaday. . Its because P sounds like every other R&B artist oiut there, and THAT's why these songs sound alike.

Prince put out his first good record since the 80s last month in the form of OK Go's Of The Blue Colour of the Sky.

Prince copied this guy. I looked on his wiki gives credit to him. Purple Rain was his version of this. http://youtu.be/UjJUtdc0bhU It gets so salty baby (bittersweet by Lewis Taylor)

Here's an interesting one
Paul Draper (singer/songwriter in Mansun) said:
I overdubbed some choppy chords and then I varispeeded the tape down in the stylee of 'Erotic City' by Prince
and
I wanted to put a bit of Prince like stops so I got the idea for doing a stop bit from Prince's live shows where he'd put 3 fingers up and the band would do 3 hits on the beat, we tried it in the live room and kept the best take.
Otherwise it bears pretty much no resemblence

I love Lewis. I'm certain he's a big fan of Prince but to his credit he never mentioned it publicly the way D'angelo always does (which irks me sometimes). I believe musically Lewis is more influenced by Todd Rundgren, Syd Barrett, and Marvin Gaye instead of Prince. Is everybody wet?

I know that song. Nothing too "Prince" about it. Betterlove sounds a bit more like Prince, vocal harmony-wise, and the similarities stop there. Is everybody wet?

I'm surprised that this thread is 25 replies long and this hasn't been posted yet. The original Prince Lookalike/Soundalike song: Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

I've posted it before.
99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Lewis does pay homage to Prince in 'you got me thinking' in the chord changes and falsetto IMHO. Your opinion is your opinion not FACT. It gets so salty baby (bittersweet by Lewis Taylor)
