Prince should go on "Live from Daryl's House"

Daryl and is Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates. I love this show. For those who have not seen it, Daryl has a huge music studio in his large suburban (perhaps rural) home. Every episode a musician comes to perform in his studio with him and other talented musicians. It's generally an all out jam session. The show is a mixture of songs from whoever the featured guest is + songs from Daryl's catalog. Cee-Lo Green has been the most prominent so far. I think Rob Thomas was on as well.

I think Prince would absolutely shine in this show + I think Daryl would complement him greatly. Anyone else seen the show?

The show is fantastic, but I can't imagine Prince going on it.

It's a show that focuses on musicians getting together, hanging out and playing each other's songs. There's no ego,no drama,no pretense.Prince only likes to do things like this when HE is in control of everything, lol.

One of my favorite episodes: Smokey Robinson and Daryl Hall perform "Ooh Baby Baby"

Ibrought this up about a year ago and the answer is hell YES!

Daryl Hall is an amazing singer and talent and his show is just awesome. I even made a suggestion to Daryl to have Prince on his show.

However P won't do it cause...well...he's Prince
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Notice that Daryl has no problem with footage from these episodes being posted on YouTube. We all know that Prince would have an issue with that. lol

Prince and Darrly Hall on acoustic guitars playing their tunes or cover tunes would be epic. It would be bigger than when he went on American Idol. However, Prince has shown that if it comes down to money. Prince sometimes is ass backwards when it comes to publicity. Prince broke down and decided to publicly tweet several random tweets. I just wish that when it comes to publicity, he would show more of his musicality in environments removed from the entetainment glitz and glamour.

As much as I like H&O, I think the show's format and Prince just won't go together. That show features too much ordinary human activities e.g. chatting, eating with a fork and a knife, discussing songwriting process, smiling excessively at each other and wearing casual clothes while performing, etc, etc. I just can't imagine Prince doing any of that mortal stuff.

I don't have the heart to say that cool But yeah of all episodes, I can only remember the one with Todd Rundgren that made me sit and listen throughout the whole thing, and I'm quite a big H&O fan. I watched almost every episodes just because of Daryl and T-Bone (RIP).

I could just see Prince showing up, playing one song or one medley, and just as the song is coming to a close and everybody is ecstatic and awestruck over having just jammed with PRINCE,....... he throws his guitar in the air and walks off--never to be heard from again.

1. Daryl Hall wouldn't put up with Prince's bullshit for one hot minute.

2. Prince hasn't proved himself to be a great ensemble player yet.He has yet to go gimmick free and therefore couldn't hang with the calibre of musicians that grace Daryl's show.

3. Daryl Hall doesn't need Prince in any way, shape or form.

He wants us to believe he actually eats.

Hence the tweet pic of his salad.

This is why non-musicians shouldn't post about Prince's talents as a player.

When pig pig fly. Although it may not be out of the question. As for Daryl complementing Prince...who's house is it?

It's a great show. I doubt he would but one thing in Prince we come to expect the unexpected. I would hope he does one of those specials for VHI or or even one of those specials for a network. It sounds like we will get Arsenio Hall show again which those performance were always interesting!

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

With the exception of the late T-Bone who was a superb and versatile musician and one of my all time favorite bass players, I don't think there's anything special about Daryl's house band. They're tight as a band and they are the types of musicians who are willing to be just that, a backing band (not that there's anything wrong with that). I would'nt be surprised if they got starstruck when Prince on stage.

Prince doesn't need to (1) prove anything (2) hang with anybody or (3) be a great ensemble player. He needs noone; but everyone needs him wink.

Good point. There are many times on the show (especially over dinner) when there are moments of uncomfortable smiles and akward pauses. Maybe Prince could skip the socializing part! biggrin

It would be cool (or hilarious at the very least) to see Prince in a normal atmosphere. I think that was one of his charms in the early 80's. For intance in Purple Rain and UTCM, he walked around town in full make up, glitter and high heels in the middle of the afternoon. It's like he brought you to his world wherever he went.

I dunno, his accoustic sets(like during the Musicology tour), where it's just him, a stool, and his guitar seemed pretty "gimmick" free to me. Unless, of course, you consider that him doing an accoustic set is a gimmick in of itself.

That would be great! Daryl does a fantastic job with that show. Love the concept. And, the execution is top-notch. Though, I wouldn't expect Prince to do it. I'm sure Daryl Hall knows enough about Prince to know this. Though, it wouldn't hurt to ask.,
