"Chaos & Disorder" Vs. '00's Albums

We all know that "Chaos & Disorder" was panned pretty bad by critics [& fans] galore when it first released. But.......how much better, equal, or worse is it, when compared to all of his 2000's + albums?? [ flip u in advance]

الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

Hate Chaos and Disorder with an absolute passion. Probably as I still had expectations of Prince making a great, original album.
2000s I've learnt not to expect much. Saying that Rainbow Children pisses on it.

I LOVE Chaos and Disorder!! I wish he made more stuff like it. Its actually one of my top 5 of alltime by PRince along with The Gold Experience, symbol album, Purple Rain and 1999!!LOVE LOVE LOVE me some C&D!! So obviously my answer to the question would be better than any of the 00's output

I really like C and D, much more than I did whe it came out, now its some solid rock and roll and has a great sound. The 00's albums are a mixed bag.

C and D (7.5/10) is better than

The Rainbow Children (2/10)

NEWS (4/10)

ONA whole thing (5/10)

20Ten (6/10)

Musicology (7/10)

Equal to

Planet Earth (7.5/10)

Lesser than

3121 (9/10)

Lotusflow3r (8.5/10)

MPLSOUND (8/10)

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I've always liked C&D, and I would say it is a better (at least more interesting) album than most of his post-2000 output, except Rainbow Children and perhaps 20Ten.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I really, really dig Chaos.

Still, albums like The Rainbow Children, Lotusflow3r and Musicology are better, in my opinion.

C&D is not a great album. It's not even a really good Prince album. I have no desire to hear any of the tracks live and I completely understand why some people aren't into it. Yet it's better than nearly all Prince albums released after "Gold" and it's light years better than Prince's entire output past Rave. I used to play it a lot while gaming and I still consider it one of my goto albums if I just want some background music while working.

Like most albums after The Gold Experience, its alright but I often forget it exists. But it can't beat 3121 which has some of his most classic recent tracks imo. (Black Sweat, 3121 and Fury in its SNL version)

To me, this is just a bizarre statement. I can't even begin to understand what you mean. Not sure if you're joking or being serious. Or just trolling.

it has too many flaws and it doesn't feel too cohesive.

it's like it starts out wanting to be a rock album and it

derails into some weird country and western, hip hop,

new jack swing, rapping madness. only to find some

solid ground back at the very end, by which time it's

too late to save the album.

if it had been released with just a few changes, then

it would have been one of his better albums imo:

01. chaos and disorder

02. i like it there

03. dinner with delores

04. the same december

05. calhoun sq

06. zanalee (original version)

07. into the light

08. i will

09. da bang

10. empty room

11. had u

Chaos and Disorder sounds like a bad Lenny Kravitz album....very uninspired. This was nothing more than contractual filler.

I think all his '00's Albums are better than "Chaos & Disorder". C&D is pretty pointless.

Great tracklist, I agree with you.. I would give this a 9/10.

Why oh why did Prince omit Calhoun Square and Empty Room from the Chaos & Disorder release... question

I love the single Dinner With Delores as well (like Missfee). music

Actually I became a big fan when I discovered P through C&D. I was a metal head (Danzig, King Diamond, etc) and oblivious to Prince until I accidentally heard I Like It There and got hooked eversince. Needless to say it's an important album for me.

I'm really like Dinner with Delores and The Same December, and I'm rather fond of the whole album, it's enjoyable, but by no means great. The 00's albums are so much better.

That's a pretty cool story - I really dig the album (loved it back then as well). In fact, 1994 through to 1996 was a pretty good time to be a Prince fan in that he was releasing tons of material and a lot of it was very strong.

By the way, where'd you hear I Like It There? My favourite off of that record!

I really enjoy listening to his guitar work all over that record especially on I Will.

I think it was coming through a speaker of the record store at the time, I checked it out and another thing that got me hooked was, strangely, the album cover. I remember thinking to myself "this is Prince, the guy who used to be in Purple Rain?". That album just seemed so punk rock to me and of course I was blown away by the guitars..and the drums!

Yeah 94-96 was a great time, and I'm pretty sure during those years lots of rock-metal heads became Prince fans thanks to C&D, TGE, The Undertaker, etc. Lots of my friends did.

After showing them Montreux and before making them listen to Madhouse!

Those drums and those guitars and the bass lines and the synth work - Dig U Better Dead is bad too!!!!

That incarnation of the NPG is my all-time favourite band - they really hammered out that material!!

Michael Bland told me that they used to rehearse all the time - he also said that Prince was on a mission to be as awesome as he could be. He said that he was possessed back then and was as focused as anyone could possibly be!!!
