I actually don't think of The Revolution when I hear this song.
To me, if you replace the horns with a synthesizer (since he wasn't using horns back then), Groovy Potential sounds like it could have been an outtake from the Prince album in 1979.
Anyway, I like the song. It reminds me of Prince's earlier sound before he formed The Revolution. | |

The "problem" is - more or less - in 2:39 when Prince had to do something and he did not build anything at all. He wait for a while and continue in a chorus repetition. It is like a old Prince song, it is not a bad song, but show how Prince is lazy today. Better than the "ain't gonna miss u" orrore, anyway. | |

Actually,the intro reminds me of 'When The Lights Go Down" Or something from The Symbol Albu The horns take a cue from Eric Leeds in "Eye Hate U" it's overall sexy the outro horns lblend nicely w/The chicken grease! Classic Prince tempo | |
