He also throws in something quite clear about "know who to follow" or something. He's still doing the JW proselytizing disguised as risqué lyrics. OTOH, sounding like saying it, clearly intentionally, is pretty close to actually saying it. Like, why argue over erotic city - I for years heard it as fuck, who cares (or knows) if its really funk? "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

I completely agree...pretty dreadful, if you ask me. I would love to feel differently, but yikes. One of the worst things I've heard by any artist in quite a while.
And regarding the "shouty" nature of it, I was excited to see that he played "Cause and Effect" at this show - I know that song doesn't get much love, but I've grown quite fond over the years. However, he simply shouts this song too, rather than singing it, which in my opinion completely ruins it. Strange. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.
Sex is not love. Love is not sex. Putting words in other people's mouths will only get you elected. Need more sleep than coke or methamphetamine. | |
