Why is Prince so Teflon? 1st off, Im a tremendous fan of Prince. But he does have his faults and can be a douche most of the time. From everything from blocking his videos and music, no cell phones brought to his shows cause of cameras. Sueing people and kids for You Tube vids or attacking fan sites and magazines . How he's treated his musicians and bands(The Time, Wendy and Lisa, the rest of the Revolution, Levi, Rosie and etc . Former girlfriends and wives(Mayte for example) and etc. But majority of the fans overlook those things and hate on people who point out those things, especially on this site,or have some sarcastic comment to say about someones feelings. It is the art. Sane people who have a life do not care what P is doing as long as he is not out commiting crimes no one should care about his personal relationships.
In addtion, he has not sued anyone. Ceast and Desist order or not lawsuits and it is music and property. He is within his legal rights block videos and music that he is not getting money for as many other artist and record companies are doing the exact same thing.
He does not owe us anything but a good live show if we payed for a ticket. | |

There are people here that are blind, that's why. I love Prince's classic music. But I get sick of people defending people that they've never met. I, personally, can not defend anyone, just because I am a fan of their work. It seems childish to me that people still do things like this. U get sick of people defending Prince. And I get sick of people attacking him for being a complex human being like the rest of us. Almost everyone on this board has been an Ass to someone else on this very board some time or other. Its the human condition.
the very thing Prince is accused of (being an Ass) is exhibited in the conduct of a lot of his detrators. A little self-examination is needed.

First of all, to be a rock star, you HAVE to be a egotistical self-obsessed maniac, because your job is to stand on a stage before thousands of people and be like, hey, y'all paid money to see and listen to and applaud ME!
And secondly, being a rockstar means having a fan community that keeps track of everything you're doing. No wonder some rock stars get to be a little wacky and aloof. In fact, it's more surprising that most of them stayed sane at all! It must be a strange way of life! [Edited 7/30/13 11:22am] | |

Because I live my life in the world of real problems and this is not that serious to me and it has nothing to do with me. I have my own problems. Does this mean I wont post my dissapproval of something, ofcourse not, but if its that bad then I stop being a fan and move on. I dont hang around and watch a person's every move that I dont respect. I love his music, nothing more. Also I have my faults and I dont proclaim to be perfect. | |

The thing about celebs wither if be Movie stars or musicians, is that because u made it, u don't have to abuse it. Kanye West is another example, treating fans like shit on the bottom of their shoe. ''To much is given much is required". Prince and Kayne and the other we're probally always like this from childhood to adults, fame does't change u,you were like this from the beginning, fame only amplified it. But we defend them and they don't defend us. Why? Guys like Kid Rock or Johnny Depp, Frank Sinatra. don't let it go to their heads. Maybe thats why Micheal Jackson and Elvis we're both KINGS. | |

He (like we) deserves every last bit of the scrutiny he gets, when he's being an asshole, jerk, etc. The problem is in the fact that he wants our money. You can't be an asshole to the fans, sueing them, & still want their money off of mediocre singles, & shit. Prince does go out of his way to alienate people, I think his plan has been slowly working on me, much as I hate to say that but...there are a lot of great albums and concerts but destroying your legacy is a one way street, avoiding that is a lot easier.
I don't think the rest of 2013 is going to make up for the damage caused by his image, videos etc not being allowed to go viral.
What next? Suing radio for playing his songs? Who would be surprised? | |
