Well, while I'm still waiting for the DVD from Prince of previous Montraux shows I'm enjoying this years ones. Pretty good audience recordings and some nice set lists, bobbing my head to FUNK at the moment.
I'm sure there will be plenty who elaborate far more than I but seek them out, well worth a download.

Oh yess and the quality is perfect!

I was hoping this would happen. And the setlists are rad and completely different for each night!? Awesome sound quality to boot (pun so very intended)! Chili Sauce.

Perfect may be a bit of a stretch, but they are very good. Now if someone can do an enhancement the kind we saw with the Dakota shows then these will be utterly awesome. In fact I fully expect this to happen as these have been released super quick which is awesome.
Great stuff all round so far.
The only thing I would have liked more is if the 3rdEye TV hadn't given such clues as to some of the more surprising tracks in the sets. I'd have been amazed to see Strays Of The World, FUNK, Superconductor etc if we hadn't known they were rehearsing them anyway.
But that said, the fact that they did the 3rdEye TV stuff was awesome anyway, so I'll stop beeing a whiney little fam. RIP

PUHLEASE!!!! Did you ever actually watch the festival's logo for a second or two?! It is Montreux. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

FYI: Almost every fart by mr Prince is recorded nowadays. So the question was not if it would be recorded, but rather how many times or how well. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

PUHLEASE!!!! Did you ever actually see that I had it right in the title and this is a typo? But thanks for clearing up the confusion as I'm sure people were completely baffled as to what I was referring to. [Edited 7/17/13 3:51am] RIP

It was not about the correct ways of typing but the wrong ones. But thanks for understanding and good luck hunting down even better versions of said goodies! Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

How many versions are out there? The ones I have have the meta data showing recorded by FG, (these are just the initials to protect the innocent!) and enhanced by Confusion. Are there other better recordings out there. They are pretty good but just doing a simple bass boost has made them far more listenable for me. RIP

Shades Of Umber is making my brain explode! EPIC! "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

Great isn't it? Is it a cover? Google isn't turning up much.

whoa. | |

There are currently no better versions out there. Besides, the Confusion release is going to be hard to beat (unless a soundboard turns up). "Everybody want what they don't got..."

oh man i hope it's not a cover. i really want it to be an original. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

Thanks, much clearer than Udo's slightly cryptic post. RIP

In the concerts forum, the only setlist is from night 3, so i'm curious to see how diverse they were to decide if i'll holla at this boot. Shades of Umber hmmm, another new joint huh. Is it as good as The Breakdown? Is a ballad, midtempo, a rocker, what, do share!!! Dude needs to decide what he's going to do with this stuff. I mean including the new stuff from W2A.... there's an album in there somewhere!

Not digging it. Never really get into instrumental tracks very much, it certainly won't be going on any CD's I burn for the car. RIP

It's a midtempo-ish (with tempo changes) 7:40 instrumental that really showcases the horn section, though other band members get their moments, too. What impresses me most about it is how dynamic it is, and how it's nothing else like I've heard from Prince. I really want a soundboard of this song. I think it's my new All This Love, in terms of Montreux addictions, and I'm not really even an instrumentals kind of guy, "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

There's some good stuff here on this set. Sort of weird to hear him do so much unexpected material ("F.U.N.K.", "Housequake" ) after the "Welcome 2..." tours.

Quality is very good... I Like it. And finally I can enjoy The Breakdown...
Thanx! "America is a continent..."

Most of the times, there's multiple sources of a gig. I.e.: multiple recordings, varying in 'quality' . Also not all materials hit the interwebz that quick. Sometimes some tweaking is necessary or someone is waiting for something. I do not know nor have claimed to know actual details about recordings of Montreux. I just go from the general principle. That was why I said good luck. (check the usual spots and then again) Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

That's cool. When I read it, it kind of seemed like you knew of other sources. I'll certainly be keeping my eyes peeled. RIP

FYI: I know. I was referring to the speed with which it was made available. Chili Sauce.

wow, unlike anything you've ever heard from him despite his extensive selection of instrumentals?! that says a lot

Monday Night's "Lights Off! LIGHTS OFF!!! Take Notes!" moment was a funny moment. Y'just know some people heard some words.

Hmmm. I just listened through some of the first night. I was not digging it. The horns were tight, but other than that I'm just not impressed. I couldn't figure out exactly what was missing until I got to 'The Jam', then it hit me. A couple minutes at Prince Vault confirmed it, Prince doesn't play guitar, bass or keys. WTF?!? If this had already been mentioned, I missed it. At this point I was thinking I really didn't want to listen to the next two nights. Then I remembered some of the praise here for Shades Of Umber from night 2, so I gave that track a spin. Unfortunately I didn't like that one either. (Not hating on the instrumentals, I love Plectrum Electrum and the 2 that were on Sound Cloud). I noticed at Prince Vault that Prince plays guitar & keys on night 3, so, I skip the rest of Night 2 and jump ahead... Now I'm hearing some stuff I'm digging. I need to listen to the whole show for this one. I just can't get into to a Prince show where he's only singing and not also playing. Don't hate your neighbors.
