She Gave Her Angels appreciation I think this is such a gorgeous song that I can listen to over and over again and get misty eyed. I love the emotional guitar solo as well as the slow, soulful, dreamy beginning. xo Just a beautiful, timeless ballad. What do you all think? Is this about her losing her virginity? Sorry if that's a dumb question.

It's not a dumb question at all.<3 It's about Mayte and I heard it was about her leaving to travel and how sad he would get when she leaves. So the inspiration came when she once told him that 'she leave her angels' with him when she's away. I thought it was about her virginity too ...No wonder there are more ardent MJ fans...

I love this song and think it should have replaced "The Love We Make" on Emancipation. https://www.youtube.com/@PurpleKnightsPodcast

Of course it's about her virginity, don't take any notice of the nonsense Prince comes out with. Wasn't it the Mel B interview where he tried to claim Come wasn't about sex? He said something like, come to who? Come to where? Come to what? RIP

I missed this the first time. I think my brain must have dismissed it as it is complete nonsense. RIP

That suggests that her virginity had gone and it's about exactly what Prince said. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

I'm not generally a huge fan of his ballads, but man this song is absolutely gorgeous. Love the lyrics, love the melody, love the piano, love his voice...and LOVE that guitar.
It's hearing songs like this that (I hate to say it, but fuck it) make me realize how much less I am into his current stuff. Even when I like it (which I do, often) it doesn't smack me in the face and make me fall over like songs like this still do. Although it's quite different musically and lyrically, I have come to firmly believe that his work from when he changed his name to o(+> up to and including some of NewPowerSoul (and even a track or two on Rave, like "Eye Love U..." and "Man O' War") are almost as strong as some of the stuff he created in his 80s prime. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.
Sex is not love. Love is not sex. Putting words in other people's mouths will only get you elected. Need more sleep than coke or methamphetamine.

hi, this is my favorite prince song (in sad times), because of all the emotion in it. No other prince song, contains a guitar solo, which sounds full of pain and sadness.
i read all of the above, and you know. I always thought this song was about a woman dying, while leaving her family and she gave her angels (guardians) to her husband.
with that thought, the guitar is extremely powerfull.....
but, looks like i'm wrong here.....
must be my not so perfect english.
however, i asked an american colleague once (she was a text writer), what this song was about and she said. It's about loss and joy to go to the next life.
so now i'm puzzled a bit | |

And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....
