There were people just arriving as we were leaving who must have thought the 1:00 time was locked in. Bummer. The list is definately not definitive but Housequake, The Bird, Glamarous Life, and a few covers were performed as well (I guess after the cameras went off). Really fun show. They took the no parking signs away from the street with the daycare so that really helped but the room was about half full and I don't think there was much more parking available.

The band sounds fantastic! Hopefully, we get some soundboard recordings of this line up in the near future. The horns add so much and are used to great effect.

I thought F.U.N.K. and Dark sounded just perfect. The guitar solo during Dark was so smooth.

Cassie sounded great on the piano during Something In The Water, as well. You can tell by her playing that she has great musical taste. I love this arrangement, too.

The horn section NAILED Courtin' Time. I love that he pulled this one out, even though it seems to be one of those songs that never got much respect. Perfect choice for this line up.

I think the Montreux shows are going to kill!

PS - Damaris. Pretty girl. Not much of a dancer. She looks silly up there flailing about. If he really wants her up there with him, he should have her work with a choreographer so she can bring something professional-looking to the game. At this point, it's distracting.

Days Of Wild 2013 isn't really doing it for me. Still sounds messy and maybe like the wrong choice for this line up.

That said, it really is a treat to be able to see all of these rehearsals. Thanks to all of those involved in making it happen.

Cool!...im happy to hear u dug it ! i know u have ur opinions, critical or not....so its nice to hear ur positivity....when ur truly feeling it music headbang

as far as ur opinion on the girl dancing, my thoughts are that if the "eye candy" for the audiance is becoming more distracting with his music [in this space and tyme of life]....then its tyme to let go of it. unless its solely for Prince himself...then its personnal and whatever floats his boat. She is still around soooo...shes must b doing something right. right? confuse cool

Dunno.

Was Andy Allo with him again

Didn't see her (the stage was darkish) nor hear her.

Damaris dancing is embarrassing. Its hard to watch really, because she looks so goofy but as some one mentioned we all know if hes dating some one he doesnt care how untalented they are. lol

Is Shelby the lead singer of the npg? Days of wild sounded so boring and uninspired. I think he played half the same set three years ago at paisley. Dark was cool, but seems like the same old same old.

interesting 'darkish' setlist...

references a recent dead lipsync singer,

plays Ain't Gonna Miss U When U're Gone,

Funk, Dark...

Something in the Water to wrap it up and start freshly with Courtin Time.

A Day Out Of The Life of P... lol

3RDEYEGIRL just posted tonight's lineup:

3RDEYEGIRL 3RDEYEGIRL

Marcus on Tenor and flute Adrian on alto and flute

3RDEYEGIRL 3RDEYEGIRL

Josh electronica

3RDEYEGIRL 3RDEYEGIRL

Prince keys

3RDEYEGIRL 3RDEYEGIRL

and 3rdEYEGIRL

So that was Prince's hands on the keys, when they showed that first vid live, titled "Work in Progress". I really liked that instrumental track 'Hidden Colors' though. I wonder if they will release it on soundcloud or for purchase. Also, I see they're including some flute in their music. Love when musicians use the flute in jazz-type music. The flute is like a peaceful instrument and adds a nice flavor to music. By the way, that instrumental version of 'Brown Skin' was awesome.

[Edited 7/4/13 5:01am]

During "Hidden Colors", you can clearly see Prince's hands adding some drum and atmospheric sounds from a laptop-like controller... He was palying with what was already recorded, where I think it was him on keys.

That was a godawful version of "Days Of Wild".

Kinda have to agree with that. It sounded like the loop and Hanna had a fight and stopped speaking to each other. When he stopped the band, his "Good GOD," sounded less like, "Good God, this is funky," and more like, "Good God, Hanna, get your shit together."

Okay, I just listened to the rehearsal that included "Days of Wild" from early morning on 7/6, and Oh My GOD!!! I found it to be rather shocking how much difficulty Hannah was having keeping time to the drum loop during this song. It was kinda funny hearing Prince trying not to lose his shit and instead saying, "Turn up the loop, turn up the loop! IN THE BACK!" As in, MAKE SURE HANNAH CAN HEAR THAT SO SHE CAN STAY ON THE BEAT, PLEASE!!

This is in no way to shit on Hannah, since unlike many people, I don't have any problem with her drumming, although she has the misfortune of following in the footsteps of many amazing drummers from past bands. But YIKES, I thought that the "Prince and the Band" misstep from the ONA soundboard aftershow in Copenhagen would go down in history as the most embarrassingly out-of-sync drumming in Prince's recorded history...and then I heard this!

It did sound much, much, much better last night though. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall after this recording ended. And I'll give Prince props for being a professional and not just pulling the plug on the livestream then and there.

Being charitable it sounded like the loop might have been low in the monitors and it's hard to play along to something you don't hear.

But still wow it was off by a mile.... I'm guessing that's why we got the extra clip of them doing Days Of Wild to prove they could do it.

^ Thanks Lady Za Za as I never really understood that line...I guess he does tend to make a lot of American cultural references that those of us overseas don't know!

It's like in Gett Off when he says 'Lay yourself down against the parking meter, strip your dress down like I was stripping a Peter" I was like Peter?!..what is he on about but then he continues..."Pauls's Almond Joy" which I take it is an American sweet!

That's actually all one line. Peter Paul was the company that produced Almond Joy's originally.
