New topic PrintableOnly Prince can release a track like this and cause people to speculate who the "inspiration" is. That's attributed to the fact that he doesn't promote his personal life on Twiiter like most celebs (making their diss tracks obvious media grabs). Fans on here have reached back 14 years already on who he "ain't missing". Priceless!!! Besdies that it's funky as hipsters on the G train. It came on my ipod today at work and I was singing along with it. Looking forward to what's next from Prince and from 3rd Eye Girl. 2013 has been big so far in my opinion! I know my purple crew has been partying and jamming since it started! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Prince is a foo? He did cover Foo Fighters, but not sure that's enough to put him in the band.
I give myself a 99.9999 percent chance that this reply will be all bunched up due to the prince.org HORRIBLE formatting.

I made an interesting observation: Ain't Gonna Miss U download starts with the number 07 right? People have been speculating that it might mean that it is track 07 on some cd. Well if you put the new single releases together in order, including Same Page Different Book but excluding remixes, Ain't falls at number 7. 7. Ain't Gonna Miss U When U're Gone

Best line from a song all year!
Funky ditty - like the layers that starts off like Musicology the morphs into the Black Album
this jam is 55 times fonky!
Good job P!
Sorry. For my ignorance, can someone explain to me what ta-ta means? [Edited 6/15/13 2:37am]

The more I listen to it the more I LOVE it!!!
The file says "Track 7". Track 7 of WHAT? I'm into the 3rdEyeGirl thing but if alongside the 3EG album we could have a solo Prince album full of funky grooves like Ain't Gonna Miss U, I'd be totally ecstatic A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Don't relaly know what to think. It's too easy to dismiss the song. The hook is catchy, the groove is funky. The text is not so OK. As are parts of the production to my simple mind.
For 88 dollarcents I cannot really complain. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

'Ta-tas' is a reference to 'breasts' in the song. [Edited 6/15/13 3:50am]

Maybe yeah. Where is Fixup though? I can live without that one though.
Presumably we are getting the album track by track to download and piece together ourselves? Seems a pretty mixed bag though unless they are tracks from a double album as the styles don't seem to fit for me.
My only gripe is after downloading there is no artist info etc on the tracks so they are impossible to find as a collection in the library by artist/album/style etc but I am fine updating that info but you don't need to do this for any other download.

More drivel better suited to a teen or somebody in their twenties. Not somebody in their fifties. A song about an ex that Prince probably didn't give a fuck about anyway.

Really? Most artists, whether they are r&b, country, blues, rock, etc., sing about relationships. For example, most blues and country songs are about relationships, i.e., ex, being in love/a breakup, etc., and half the time those are catchy tunes. BB King, Garth Brooks, just to name a few, still sing about relationships, and so do many other artists of various ages. Nothing unusual.

From your list, I could see these songs on separate albums.
1. Rnr Love Affair| ---------------------
These 4 seem to be more in sync with one another, if on its own album
4. Breakfast Can Wait 7. Ain't Gonna Miss U When U're Gone

Well maybe he should find the right person and settle down.
Dissing exes and swapping profanity for childish euphamisms like 'Ta-ta's' just suggests Prince needs a wake-up slap. At his age, it's beneath him. There is no heartbreak or regret conveyed in this, Prince just comes off as a bitter arsehole.
The song is a fucking boring mess. A steaming turd. I forgot to mention that.

I like the subtle musical references to his old stuff, i.e. the springy bass notes from IIWYG, the dissonant Clare Fischer string swells. For some reason, I can hear Mavis singing this one. It gets better with each listen because you keep noticing new things. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

Dude, no disrespect, I would take your comments seriously, but you just took at least 20 minutes of your time beeyotching and writing 3 paragraphs about a song you claim you don't like, and gave it that much of your attention. If something bores you, why give it that much attention? Then you complain about the lyrics being childish, yet you used a childish phrase' 'a steaming turd', to describe it, and you're an adult [Edited 6/15/13 6:18am]

What I hear is Prince inspiring himself from Nasty Girl around the time he was recording Bob George, with live brass and popping samples. It's a fun track, excellent for workouts -- with all the repetitions it sounds slightly hypno- trance -- I didn't quite like 2nite on Bria's album this one is mixed better.

About this:
1. Rnr Love Affair| 7. Ain't Gonna Miss U When U're Gone
1, 5 and 7 all have those minimalist brass patterns -- I was thinking it sounds like he did it right after Boyfriend in the studio.
Taken together this is not what I would expect his next album to be. Unless he's having a double release where one CD is Prince and the other is 3rdEyeGirl, it's the more grungy efforts that are interesting, so let's hope he does release a whole album of songs like Screwdriver, Fixurlifeup, Let's Go Crazy Redux, and all those I haven't heard yet.
This listing above would make a great solo showcase but he's had so many other in that vein but not too many in the style of Undertaker and Chaos and Disorder -- only better. I'm not a big C&D fan -- but the Undertaker EP did rock. Prince needs to move away from all the gloss and perfection and focus more on rawness and energy. This band has the right sound for it, a cohesive 3reEyegirl release is expected.

It could be a double album, one Prince disc and the other one the 3rdeyegirl disc Welcome 2 The Dawn

Yep, this one reminds me of Alphabet Street quite a bit, especially the 12" mix. I also can't help but to think of The Work Pt. 1 -- something in his delivery at the beginning ("No more curse, cuz U're away...").
I like this track a lot. | |

Yeah, I actually liked the '2nite' track on Bria's album, but I agree that I like how he worked the '2nite' reference into this song.

Oh yeah Londenirish....you're right! Lol. I was up late last night arranging and burning these tracks to a cd, and somehow I DID forget to throw on Fixurlifeup. I was so pumped about Ain't Gonna Miss U, I somehow skipped right over it. LOL, I feel a little goofy now. I know I also skipped LOL, but I didn't really include that in the Prince songs. Now I'll have to make me a new cd! "this is where the PURPLE PARTY PEOPLE be"

I did like 2nite but I think it could have been mixed better, it didn't sound like a well engineered dance track should sound. This new song sounds more current even though the ideas it uses are old ones.

I wouldn't worry too much about the number. I seem to remember several of the original files from the NPGMC period having info on the files (titles and metadata) that suggested they were part of different "collections/albums" but nothing much came of most of it. It might be that this is the seventh track of something, but it could be a listing for some personal "inside Paisley Park" tracklist or something, or of some already cancelled project that they're just dropping random pieces out of for release.
For example, the acoustic "Guitar" had metadata on it identifying the artist as "Prince/Allo" and an album title as "The L/C." That's all we ever heard of "The L/C."

FixUrLifeUp Rock N'Roll Love Affair Down Breakfast Can Wait Same Page Different Book Ain't Gonna Miss U When U're Gone 2 Young 2 Dare Boyfriend That Girl Thang Plectrum Electrum
We probably need a few more rock songs to fit the 3rd Eye Girl vibe. I'd go for keeping Same Page exactly the same, except maybe rip out the lame rap and put a guitar part in the middle. Maybe a stronger song to take out Boyfriend, and maybe clean up That Girl Thang a bit...

Yes, I could see the tracks in purple released as 3rdeyegirl tracks on an album/cd, and the songs in bolded blue on a separate release as a Prince album/cd, but if it's a 3-cd deal, then a 3rd cd within the packet could be a mixture of various forms of music. Kind of like the LF3 cd. [Edited 6/15/13 14:47pm]

I can agree with that. I really like this track, and in the beginning, of the song, in the first few seconds, somehow it seems like I can hear just a bit of 'Musicology'.

Maybe will release his next album as a combo pack like he did his ex Bria! 3rd Girl would get better exposure that way. Plus give them instant distribution & a debut half a million sold album like Bria. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.
