Agreed. It's got snippets of great sounds but not really connected to much. It seems to me he really needs a writing partner or at least an ear to give him feedback. I'd like to know how a 55 year old guy thinks about relationships, not someone stuck in perpetual adolescence.

The initial groove is good, but like so many newer Prince songs, it throws in a bunch of elements from classic Prince without building a good song around any of them. It's like Prince has forgotten what makes Prince music good. It isn't the mere use of a linn or a funky bass line. Also, how many times do we need to hear a song where a woman has wronged him while he feigns total innocence? Y'know, SOTT was an album where Prince showed actual maturity; where he explored complex themes of conflict that implicated both himself and the woman (see ICNTTPOYM, Strange Relationship). It's incredible that he's regressed so profoundly all these years later. This is boring, High/Chocolate Invasion era Prince; aka Prince on auto-pilot yet again. Huge thumbs down. After re listening to some of his earlier songs, I can't believe its the same person. The songwritting is on a whole other level. I don't think you can just blame on his age. I just think he's lost his passion. Surround yourself with "yes" people for years and I guess this is what happens. Still hopefull that P will get his mojo back.

I like almost everything he does. This one is pretty weak. I actually almost turned it off before it was finished. I have never done that before. I dont mind it as an internet track, but this is not album material at all.

Great stuff - who else does these sort of songs? A carnival in Prince's mind. As others have commented drums are nice and full-bodied, give the song a massive kick. I like Ledisi's little vocal ad-libs, even though she's just another female voice for Prince to play around with. He's really managed to get the funk back into the mix - little snippets and splices of funk, some slippery fat funk in that breakdown towards the end. A lot going on as others have said - that's Prince at his best.
I'm quietly optimistic about the upcoming release, though hope he stays away from the more rock-oriented sounds of that song he put out a while back.

Somehow this seems like a song I could see Morris Day and The Time singing/performing. The funk sound and lyrics seem to be in sync with that group's sound.

I'd say this track was no better than a Slaughterhouse or Chocolate Invasion track. It's not awful, but it's not album worthy in my opinion.

I got this one together with ExtraLoveable Reloaded. I like the latter better, there is not much of a song with Ain't Gonna Miss U. Not his worst though... RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

So far this year only 2 tracks are album worthy (2Y2D and The Breakdown) The rest sounds like B-sidesWelcome 2 The Dawn

Everything about this says I won't like it.
But......
I love it!
Its the love child of I wish U heaven part III and My Medallion, but its a looker.
It passes the test of making me sing along and pull the funky face in the car. Thats been missing from most of the RnB based tracks for a while. .
