OK, here we go again...

Most of them come from tapes Prince gave to friends, girfriends, musicians, engineers, collaborators or WB and Edel executives in the 80's and early 90's. According to Alan Leeds, Prince gave LOTS of tapes to LOTS of people back then, and some of these people decided to share what they had with the world.

It's also possible that some were properly stolen, such as maybe some rehearsal tapes, some soundboard shows and a few outtakes but, again according to Leeds, no proof of proper stealing was ever found.

All rumors claiming that Prince leaked the songs himself are just that: rumors. As far as we know he never ever wanted these tapes out there and the best proof seems to be that not a thing leaked after 1996, when Prince reinforced Paisley Park's security and quit giving tapes to anyone. There are a few situations where we know exactly who leaked what, though in most cases it remains blurry. All the "old" outtakes that keep surfacing every once in a while have been in the hands of private collectors for years, and many more leaked songs are still held by a small group of happy fews.

Hope this helps smile

I am leaking those songs 24/7 but the upload ratio is so/so compared to certain movies.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Might help a bit more without the condescending attitude. It may be old news for you, but Prince does get one or two new fans every few years.
