"Purple Rain" (Aborted) Guitar Hero/Rockband Release? It might be against the rules to post a site link but, here is what I found on it:
"From the Aborted Guitar Hero/Rockband Release of Purple Rain. Prince's camp vetoed the release after Warner Brothers had already given the go-ahead to Electronic Arts. Harmonix Music Systems prepped the Purple Rain songs for release but then later leaked them amongst staff members. Special thanks to Cyborgtronix for letting this see the light of day."
I didn't know any "Purple Rain" multitracks existed. Here is the list of songs (and their track breakdown) chosen for the game:

Very, very little about this comes up in a google search, at all. Prince turned HMX down in 2009.
The only place claiming to have copies of this, the links are all dead, and the files have been deleted. Not to mention that site looks sketchy as fuck, and the "play button" is merely a PICTURE of a play button. Also, they claim to have Hendrix's "Black Gold" tape. I call major bullshit.
So Good Luck. [Edited 5/2/13 12:03pm] Keep your headphones on.

As we know most of the tracks from PR were recorded live, so unless Prince gave WB studio versions so the individual tracks could be separate from, then this is bullshnizz.

Recorded live doesn’t mean with one microphone. If you read the account of how the song was recorded, (link provided below) you’ll notice they rented a multi-track recording truck to use at the venue. Every damned track on Purple Rain and EVERY Prince album, (except the later live ones where the notes explicitly state that it was taken from a 2 track, [which is the minimum to have stereo separation] with no mixing possible) is recorded on a multi-track. Also, the live tracks on the Purple Rain album have LOADS of overdubs and edits and some of the tracks are not even remotely live. There's a famous Thin Lizzy "live record" with so many overdubs that almost literally the only thing they kept from the actual concert was the crowd noise. Not knowing something is no crime, but a touch of research would have produced the following link:

ENJOY!
Having said all that, yes the multi-track Guitar Hero story is total BS. I saw that long ago and found that blog site full of ridiculous stuff like this, some of it quite obviously just to send fans of various artists on wild goose chases. [Edited 5/3/13 7:19am]
