Prince wanted Dead Prez to record Sign O The Times!

Heard this radio show out of the UK where Stic from Dead Prez recounts his meeting with Prince and the request to work together. Also there's stuff about D'Angelo, ?uestlove and a load of other themes. Was cool. It's up for listen and download at this link.

Ha! Ha! I should have said re-recorded yeah. Interesting Prince was asking other artists to cover his songs, don't think he's on record as doing that before. Usually only blocking them from doing his songs!

I'd forgotten all about them. Got Lets Get Free on cassette somewhere. Prolly not gonna pull it out. Hip Hop was a tight single.

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Not a lot of Dead Prez love here. Let's Get Free is an essential hip-hop record.

I think Dead Prez are far too radical for Prince....I´m surprised that he even knows who Stic is. But this is actually good news...just goes to show you that Prince knows more about Hip Hop than we think he does (plus he´s supported the Minneapolis Hip Hop scene in the mid 90s, donated money etc. etc.).

Sticman´s The Workout Tape is a great album. I listen to it at least three times a week. VERY inspirational and uplifting album, extremely motivational, too. Stic is the man! Much respect to Stic.

Dead Prez came out in '96. I'm sure it was talk of a re-recording.
